How are you? “I’ve been feeling a little stressed lately but doing much better.” Happy June everyone! Today on the Mom pod we have the very funny and very honest Anna McKeown. Comedian and mama of 2, Anna recently transitioned from being a stay at home mom to venturing back out into the workforce. In this episode we talk about everything from going to therapy, attending support groups, extreme parenting in a pandemic, securing childcare, struggling with postpartum depression and anxiety to reworking creative practices while shifting priorities. More often than not, life can be stranger than fiction. Sometimes all you can do is just laugh at the ridiculousness of it all. Thank you so much for listening and supporting the podcast!

How are you? “I’m good but I am really in a process of healing” Trigger warning: In this episode we talk about miscarriage, stillbirth and navigating deep grief. Today we listen to the courageous Sammy Lohrman as she tells her story with complete honesty and brave resilience. At almost 7 months pregnant, she found out that her baby no longer had a heartbeat. Sammy went through the whole process of giving birth and the aftermath of having to make difficult decisions that no one should ever have to make. This is an episode about loss but it’s also a journey of healing and starting over. By listening to Sammy’s story, I learned that stillbirth affects 1 in 175 births and about 21,000 babies are stillborn in the United States each year. That is about the same as the number of babies that die during the first year of life. If you know someone who is struggling, try reaching out and asking this simple question: How can I best support you right now? Thank you so much for listening. These are stories that need to be heard.

How are you? “I am tired. Exhausted. And a little nervous!” Back in 2018, Paige Denton and I found out that we were both pregnant at the same time! And what a comfort it was to go through something so new and so unpredictable together. This is a conversation about the loss of identity when you become a mom, finding yourself again and creating a new identity: one that blends the old with the new. In this episode we talk about subchorionic hemorrhages, inductions, hiring a doula, being a stay at home Mom, normalizing breastfeeding in public, finding balance, prioritizing self-care and asking for help. If you are struggling right now, please know that you are not alone. Thank you so much for listening and supporting the podcast!

How are you? “I’m tired. I am always tired.” Our guest today inspired one of our very first questions on the podcast. Meet Mandy Trapaso, mama of three. In this episode we talk about what it’s like to give birth on a military base, single motherhood, becoming a stepmom, feeling overstimulated, mom expectations and asking for help when the weight of doing it all becomes too much. Raising humans is difficult at every age, especially when there’s a never ending to-do list. If you ever feel like you are just getting through the day, you are not alone.
