  • Safeguarding Our Health As Educators
    Feb 15 2023

In today's episode we are in conversation with Maureen Ceresini and Brenda Martin and we're talking about the importance of safeguarding our health.

It was quite by 'accident' that Maureen discovered that she had suffered what's known as a 'silent heart attack' and learnt the importance of taking care of her health.

Brenda, whom we met in one of our early podcasts, tells about her experience and that of her colleagues as they navigated the emotional quagmire of a negative Ofsted.

Their stories are a reminder of just how important it is that we - as educators - take care of ourselves

  • Colin's Journey From Teacher & Teacher Trainer to Storytelling
    Jan 23 2023

    Welcome to Colin Young!

Colin's story begins with him finishing university but somehow shunning a lucrative Sales & Marketing role in a newly liberalised Telcoms market in Canada. Instead he chose to follow his younger brother and mother and shift over to China and South Korea to teach English.

During the years that followed Colin has had the good fortune of being able to shift from country to country and continent to continent, often bumping into family along the way.

Colin was bought to an almost standstill as the pandemic hit and the world locked down. Realising how vulnerable 'employees' are to external circumstances, he decided to create something of his own.

It has now been 3 years since Colin began his journey into Storytelling. He works with young kids 8-11 year olds to help them refine their oral and written storytelling skills. He also works with International Professionals training them in The Art of Storytelling.

As part of the development of this new venture Colin is reaching out to teachers who want to train in this very up-to-date and topical area.

  • A Teacher, A Saddler, An Author And Philanthropist
    Dec 6 2022

    Robert Peacock

Today we listen to Robert Peacock tell of his  quite incredible journey!

He started his career as a landscape gardener, training as a Special Education Needs teacher, working with juvenile gangs in North London and New Your City.

Trying to transition out of teaching he re-trained as a saddler but again ended up teaching students on the same course! Later he moved to the beautiful countryside of Southern Ireland and worked with animal rehabilitation.

During this time and just before the pandemic, Robert decided he needed a new challenge, so took off to the continent of Africa and landed in Kenya, where he met his soul mate. Thus began the desire to bring basic literacy to the worst slums where he and his wife now work as a Community Based Organisation (CBO).
