The Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad took this chapter's title straight from our Lessons. Master Fard Muhammad, to Whom Praises Are Due Forever, asked in Question 19 of Lost-Found Muslim Lesson No. 2, "If a civilized person does not perform his Duty, what must be done?" In this week's Wednesday Evening Ministry Class, Brother Minister Jason Fareed opens Chapter 25 of Message to the Blackman in America word by word, beginning with the first word of the title. If. A condition, not a verdict. The civilized man can perform his duty, or he can fail it.

From there the Messenger tells us what civilization is: "One having knowledge, wisdom, understanding, culture, refinement and is not savage." He tells us there are two civilizations on this earth, "a wicked one and a righteous one," and that "we have all been well trained into the wicked civilization." He measures an advanced civilization not by its technology but by its righteousness. And he tells us where we stand today: "My people in America are under the searchlight of the righteous, who are offering to them the right guidance to a supreme civilization of righteousness never witnessed before on earth."

In this lecture: the three types of people, the 85%, the 10%, and the 5%; the Messenger held responsible for the delivery of the message and his forty million helpers; why a beautiful society must be spiritual; the searchlight that has already found us; the slave-master who failed his duty; fear and ignorance, and the civilized man whose duty is to awaken his people; and the true friend we have today in Allah, Who came in the Person of Master Fard Muhammad, and the Nation of Islam.

The duty of the civilized man is to teach civilization to the uncivilized. That duty now rests on everyone who hears this class.

Wednesday Evening Ministry Class, ministered by Brother Minister Jason Fareed.

"You, who have been here in America for four hundred years, have never been taught a true knowledge of self, God, and His religion, Islam. As long as you are without such essential knowledge, which is the key of salvation, freedom, justice, and equality, you are not free." The Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad opens Chapter 8 with that charge, and this class takes it paragraph by paragraph.

We open on the most important question a person can ask, "Who is God?", and on the Supreme Wisdom Lesson that answers it: there is not a mystery God. We take the Messenger's words as he wrote them and follow where they go. Why we were never taught who we are. Who kept the knowledge from our ears, and why. What the Messenger means by essential knowledge, and by a thorough knowledge of our own history. When the truth arrived, and Who came to make it manifest. Why the hardest problem is not getting the truth to our people but getting them to believe it after it is in their ears. What "Islam, the Religion of Peace" has to do with what Jesus actually taught. And the Messenger's closing word on the religion that was put on us with Jesus' name attached, and what it will take to come out of it.
