Over three episodes, with special guests from the Eurovision Hall of fame, as well as fellow superfans and experts, hosts Alan Jenkins and Ruth Liptrot look at the politics behind the contest, the best Eurovision performances over the years and what it means for the city of Liverpool to be hosting on behalf of Ukraine.

Even though the song contest prides itself on being apolitical, Eurovision has always been steeped in politics — from the voting to the performances.

In this episode, hosts Alan Jenkins and Ruth Liptrot speak to Dr Eurovision, Paul Jordan, and James Rowe, Eurovision expert and presenter of The Euro Trip Podcast, to find out the politics behind Eurovision, what political statements have been made at the song contest in the past and how significant it is politically today.

In our second episode, hosts Alan Jenkins and Ruth Liptrot look at the highs and lows of the Eurovision song contest, including some of the best - and worst - performances over the years.

Joining them are Cheryl Baker and Jay Aston, two of the original members of Bucks Fizz, who won Eurovision in 1981 with Making Your Mind Up, and Carrie Grant, who represented the UK at the song contest in 1983 as part of the pop group Sweet Dreams.
