  • Bernie is a Banana Slug. He lives below the strawberry patch in Mrs. Macintyre's garden bed. He wakes up one spring morning and crawls out of his apartment. He crawls past some noisy wood bugs up to the surface. It is a warm spring day and he lets the wind caress his mantle. He hears a shriek. Suddenly he is flying through the air, over the fence into the woods beyond. This is  where his adventure begins.
