  • Ashley Ozmint: Building Her Business in The Pockets and Margins
    Jul 23 2024

Enjoy today's episode with Ashley Ozmint.

Ashley Ozmint is known for her oil landscape paintings that celebrate untouched land and views that shape the south. Ashley was born in Columbia, SC and graduated from Anderson University with a BFA in graphic design and a minor in marketing. Ashley is currently based in the mountains of Asheville, NC where she works in her home studio soaking up the views that surround. Taking notes from the Impressionist and Tonalist movements, Ashley seeks to capture an emotional interpretation from the landscape rather a realistic rendering. She has shown her work at the Grand Bohemian Lodge Gallery, Common Good Gallery, Art Fields, and The Harding Art Show. Ashley is most alive when she is outdoors. Her faith and her love for the wild fuels her work and her desire to bring a sense of peace and wonder to buyer's homes.

  • Elisa Sheehan on Exploration, Creation, and Making Time to Play
    Jul 9 2024

Enjoy today's episode with Elisa Sheehan. Elisa Sheehan’s art is an invitation to consider the fluent language of nature, the beauty in the broken, and the symphony of color and shape gifted to us by the world itself.

With a background in fine art and design, Elisa brings both technical acuity and an unbridled spirit of wonder and discovery to all of her creations. Her works, which span across mediums from fine art painting to kintsugi-inspired eggshell installations, are woven with common threads that ask the observer to ponder the relationship between fragility and strength, to embrace a staggering spectrum of color, and above all, to notice the indelible mark of the natural world on everything we consider beautiful and valuable.

Elisa lives rogue and rural in Upstate New York with her family—her favorite tribe of co-adventurers with whom she explores nature, pockets always laden with stones and sticks, and inspiration always within reach. She believes in making art that sustains others, by inviting the outdoors in.

"I’ve always loved the Japanese art of kintsugi. It calls us to celebrate age, history, and the scars that life and time make upon everything and everyone. I embrace this as a way to think about ourselves, others, and our relationships as we age. It honors the inevitable imperfections of everything we see and might aspire to be, and represents the duality of fragility and strength, beauty and brokenness.”

  • Katherine Corden on Elevating Your Work
    Jul 2 2024

Enjoy today's conversation with Katherine Corden. Katherine Corden Bellisario (b. 1991) is a fine artist living in Traverse City, Michigan with her husband and two young children. In her work, she is best known for her unique expression of the figure and use of color. She attributes much of her influence to her art teaching mother who started her in early art classes, as well as her background in studying anatomy while pursuing her first career as a physical therapist. Her lifestyle and creative work have blended over the years, and much like mixed paint, the two have become inseparable.

  • Lynn Sanders: Sticking to Your Core Competencies
    Jun 25 2024

Enjoy today's episode with Lynn Sanders.

Lynn Sanders is an artist excited by beauty: architecture, foliage, landscapes, seascapes,
interiors. She finds palettes and shapes in her environment and propels them into her
work, believing in the power of art to stimulate a person’s environment and state of mind.

Intuitive in nature, Lynn’s painting process is chaotic, and its speed and intensity are often
reflective of her current emotions. She begins her process using a tool that she designed to
apply custom colors mixed with various mediums to the canvas. Working primarily in
acrylics, acrylic mediums, and ink, she achieves chemical reactions that enhance the
composition. Her tool allows her to apply the paint at a pace that reflects her impatient
nature. This process achieves deep tones layered with transparent shapes. Her long
relationship with this application technique has allowed her to develop an innate
understanding of the precise amount of pressure and paint needed to achieve her
    signature aesthetic.

With a focus on process over concept, Lynn’s pieces invite the viewer to ponder the
technique and imagery. Her satisfaction comes from knowing that her pieces speak her
    own unique visual language.

Lynn resides in Lafayette, Louisiana with her husband and son, as well as her beloved pets.

Prior to her art career Lynn spent 16 years in the shopping mall industry as a marketing
director, general manager and temporary tenant leasing agent. She worked for large
property owners – Jones Lang Lasalle, General Growth Properties and Debartolo
    Corporation.
