• Only He Can Satisfy
    Sep 24 2024

In this episode, the Bold Women are going over the story of King Solomon and the book of Ecclesiastes.

Ecclesiastes is a book of perspective. The narrative of “the Preacher” (KJV), or “the Teacher” (NIV) reveals the depression that inevitably results from seeking happiness in worldly things. This book gives Christians a chance to see the world through the eyes of a person who, though very wise, is trying to find meaning in temporary, human things. Most every form of worldly pleasure is explored by the Preacher, and none of it gives him a sense of meaning.
In the end, the Preacher comes to accept that faith in God is the only way to find personal meaning. He decides to accept the fact that life is brief and ultimately worthless without God. The Preacher advises the reader to focus on an eternal God instead of temporary pleasure. https://www.instagram.com/boldwomen.podcast/

  • Jonah | Big Fish or Whale?
    Sep 17 2024

Jonah is a prophet God chose to warn the people of Ninevah that their city and everything and everyone in it was going to be destroyed. For some reason unknown to us, Jonah decides he does not want to comply with this and heads to Tarshish, gets to Joppa, and finds himself a ship bound for that port. God sends this huge wind on the sea, creating a storm so violent, that everyone on board was concerned it would snap the ship in half and everyone would go down with it. All the sailors are busy throwing things overboard to make the ship lighter and praying to their gods. Meanwhile, Jonah is passed out down below while everyone was freaking out. Some of the sailors find him and beg him to start praying to his God to save everyone. They then decide to cast lots to see who is responsible for all of this, and the lot falls on Jonah and they begin an interrogation and ask where he's from, who his people are, and who he worships. He tells them he's Hebrew and he worships God and that freaked them out and they were like omg what have you done to cause all this? The seas get rougher and they want to know what is going to make things easier for them and Jonah just suggests that they throw him overboard. So they do this and then instead of dying, Jonah gets swallowed up by a huge fish for three days and three nights. Jonah prays a beautiful, heartfelt prayer and then vomits onto dry land. https://www.instagram.com/boldwomen.podcast/

  • Insecurity
    Sep 10 2024

Insecurity is "1) uncertainty or anxiety about oneself; lack of confidence. 2) the state of being open to danger or threat; lack of protection." For most of us, it's difficult to even think about confidently telling another person - let alone a group of people - our favorite personality traits about ourselves or to discuss our best talents. Why is that? Somewhere along our journeys in life, we can lose sight of who we are, and who we are. We allow negative talk from others, or our internal dialogue to sink in and dictate how we view ourselves, and convince us that we're not that special. It then shows up as jealousy in relationships, can be based on failures in our professional lives, and other ugly behaviors that are not honoring our walk with Christ.

  • Sin
    Aug 6 2024

Today we would like to discuss the 7 deadly sins, origins, importance, significance, etc.

Hamartiology is the study of sin and deals with how sin originated, how it affects humanity, and what it will result in after death. To sin essentially means to miss the mark. We all miss God's mark of righteousness (Romans 3:23). Hamartiology then explains why we miss the mark, how we miss it, and the consequences. Below are important questions in Hamartiology:
What is the definition of sin? Sin is described in the Bible as a transgression of the law of God (1 John 3:4) and rebellion against God (Deuteronomy 9:7; Joshua 1:18).
Did we all inherit sin from Adam and Eve? Romans 5:12 speaks to this: "Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all men because all sinned."
Are all sins equal to God? There are degrees to sin - some are worse than others. At the same time, in regards to both eternal consequences and salvation, all sins are the same. Each and every sin will lead to eternal condemnation (Romans 6:23).
How can we know if something is a sin? There are things in the bible that specifically mention and declare to be sin. The more difficult issue is in determining what is sinful in areas that the Bible does not directly address. https://www.instagram.com/boldwomen.podcast/
