    In today’s episode, Gemma Galdon Clavell PhD discusses how businesses can be smart when using AI to make hiring decisions. Dr. Galdon-Clavell is the Founder and CEO of Eticas.ai, an AI compliance company. She works to ensure that AI is serving society through Eticas.ai’s automated bias detection platform and services.

    Dr. Galdon-Clavell was an Ashoka Fellow in 2020 and BBC has acknowledged her as one of the “people changing the world.” In 2023, she made the Forbes List, 23 Changemakers, and was the recipient of the United Nation’s Hispanic Star award. Dr. Galdon-Clavell also serves as an adviser at the United Nations, the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, and the European Union.

    In this episode, Dr. Galdon-Clavell covers common risks that career counselors make when using AI, some of the most exciting breakthroughs in AI lately, and discusses AI’s future role in business. She says that AI, at its current stages, cannot replace human thought and should instead be used as a supplement to help, support, and make humans’ lives easier.

    Today’s guest, John Robinson, President and CEO of Our Ability, says that positive change is possible, but it is up to us to create a world built around inclusion.     John was named one of ten White House (Obama) Champions of Change for Disability Employment in 2013 and in 2018 he was presented with the Chamber Champion Award in recognition of actions that have advanced the mission of the Capital Region (NY) Chamber. John is also the subject of the public television documentary series, “Get Off Your Knees: The John Robinson Story” that can be seen all over the world. Syracuse University Press published an autobiography with the same title in 2009.
