    However, these charges were dropped due to a ruling by Circuit Judge Laura Shearon Cruz. The judge found that prosecutors had violated attorney-client privilege by accessing private communications between the Clenneys and their attorneys. This decision was made after it was revealed that the state had seized text messages and emails during an investigation that included privileged conversations discussing defense strategy. Due to the inadmissibility of this key evidence, the Miami-Dade State Attorney's Office decided to "nolle prosse" the charges, meaning they voluntarily dropped the case.

    Despite the dismissal of the computer hacking charges, Courtney Clenney still faces a second-degree murder charge for the stabbing death of Obumseli, which she claims was in self-defense. Her attorneys are now seeking to have the Miami-Dade State Attorney's Office recuse itself from the murder case, arguing that the prosecutors have been tainted by the privileged information they accessed.
