  • Thomm Jutz discusses ”Nothing But Willow: The Songs of Mary Sands and Jane Gentry”
    Sep 6 2023

Grammy-nominated guitarist, producer, and songwriter Thomm Jutz discusses his upcoming project with award-winning English guitarist Martin Simpson. The album, Nothing But Green Willow: The Songs of Mary Sands and Jane Gentry, is comprised of ballads from English folklorist Cecil Sharp's 1916-1918 collection, English Folk Songs from the Southern Appalachians, particularly those tunes from singers Mary Sands and Jane Gentry.

On this album, Simpson and Jutz brought together a mix of roots artists from both sides of the pond—Sierra Hull, Angeline Morrison, Odessa Settles, Tim O’Brien, Tammy Rogers, Seth Lakeman, and more—to create an homage to the bridge from Appalachia to England and back, just as the songs of Sands and Gentry originally did.

The album is available September 29th on Topic Records.

  • Eilen Jewell - Getting Behind the Wheel
    May 31 2023

Acclaimed singer-songwriter Eilen Jewell discusses her new album, Get Behind The Wheel, out now on Signature Sounds. The Washington Post's description of Eilen is perhaps most apt: "...if Neko Case, Madeleine Peyroux and Billie Holiday had a baby girl who grew up to front a rockabilly band, she'd probably sound a lot like Eilen Jewell."
