  • How the ECB Should Respond to the BCCI - Darren Stevens SMASHES 190! - Our Old Man XI
    May 24 2021
The Cricket Podcast Boys get together to talk about the big cricket news stories of the week. First up they discuss the BCCI's request to reschedule the summer's Test series against England. How should the ECB respond? Could this be an opportunity to get Indian players involved in The Hundred? Then they go on to discuss the County Championship. Approaching the end of the first leg of the competition, holders Essex look like they may not qualify for the top division. Meanwhile 45 year old Darren Stevens smashed 190, including 15 sixes, in Kent's draw v Glamorgan. In part two, the boys name their Old Man XI, featuring contemporary old duffers, old duffers from the past, and old duffers who weren't actually old duffers, but just looked like old duffers.  Our Twitter and Instagram: @thecricketpod Our Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/thecricketpod Our sponsor: https://woodstockcricket.co.uk/ Our channel membership: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC1njF-8tUuQVbTZVyUaoBcQ/join Our website: www.thecricketpod.com

  • England Name Their Test Squad, Sandpaper, de Villiers Retires (AGAIN), and Our World Test Championship XI
    May 18 2021
On this episode of The Cricket Podcast the boys discuss the big news from cricket over the last week. England name their Test Squad to face New Zealand. The big omission is Jofra Archer, who is struggling again with his mystery elbow injury. How will England structure their XI, and will their be room for Ollie Robinson? In other news, Cameron Bancroft has reignited the sandpaper furore, by saying that the bowlers knew. Did anyone think they didn't know? Why is this so funny?  AB de Villiers has also retired from international cricket again. Who saw that coming? Finally, the boys name their World Test Championship XI, featuring a player from every nation, and absolutely no structure whatsoever. Which big names missed out, and let us know who you'd have chosen... • IPL Review Show - de Villiers is awesome, Hetmyer falls short and CSK SMASH Warner's Sunrisers
    Apr 28 2021
The Cricket Podcast get together to cover the last two IPL matches. In the first match of the show the boys chat aboutyesterday's thriller between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Delhi Capitals. Shimron Hetmyer almost pulled it off, but ended up leaving DC just one run short. In RCB's innings de Villiers was a freak, again, bringing up his 5,000th IPL run. The boys will also be covering today's match between Chennai Super Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad. CSK continued their good form, largely thanks to a terrible innings played by David Warner. Despite Williamson's heroics (again), SRH set a below par score, and Faf du Plessis and Gaikwad helped CSK hunt it down with ease.
