  • What is The Final Mix?
    Nov 15 2020

Hello, I’m Jeremy Boyd and this is The Final Mix. Join me each week as I pick a classic album at random and analyze it track-by-track. So who am I? Well, I’ve been obsessed with music since I was about seven years old. Ever since my dad gave me his cassette for Damn The Torpedoes and I heard the first drum hit of the song Refugee, I knew my life was going to be about music. Since then I’ve continued to learn about the rich history of rock n roll music. So join me each week as I delve into a classic album.

  • Neil Young - Tonight's The Night (1975)
    Nov 10 2020

Neil Young's 1975 album Tonight's The Night was a darker album than the material he had been putting out up until this point. Dealing with the deaths of Crazy Horse guitarist Danny Whitten and roadie and friend Bruce Barry, the songs on Tonight's The Night deal with some serious subject matter. Although there is a hopeful undercurrent the songs go to some serious places. That's not to say the album isn't worth listening to. It's mostly a cautionary tale for anybody dabbling in the world of drugs.

  • The Monkees - Headquarters (1967)
    Nov 3 2020

The Monkees' third album, Headquarters was a turning point in the band's career. Up until this point they weren't permitted to play their instruments on recordings. Instead, they hired session musicians to record the basic tracks, and the members of the Monkees were only required to lay down the vocal tracks. This was because they were merely seen as a cast of TV show, playing a band. They weren't a "real" band. But Headquarters was their chance to prove to the world and themselves that yes, in fact they could play their instruments, even if some of the members of the band were still learning.

    Tracklist:

    1. You Told Me
    2. I'll Spend My Life With You
    3. Forget That Girl
    4. Band 6
    5. You Just May Be The One
    6. Shades of Gray
    7. I Can't Get Her Off My Mind
    8. For Pete's Sake
    9. Mr. Webster
    10. Sunny Girlfriend
    11. Zilch
    12. No Time
