• Are You on Track to Reach Your Goals? The Value of a Mid-Season Athletic Performance Review
    Jul 23 2024

All too often, athletes don’t discover (or, perhaps more accurately) admit that they aren’t on track to reach the goals they’ve set until the inability to hit the goal is literally staring them in the face. A much more effective and enjoyable strategy is to conduct a Mid-Season Athletic Performance Review to assess ahead of time if you are on track to reach your goals. This allows you to recalibrate your training (and perhaps your goals) as needed based on where you actually are in your training so you have a higher probability of reaching a desired outcome.

  • Coach Tip Tuesday: Triathlon Wetsuits: When and Why You Should Skip Them
    Jul 16 2024

A wetsuit is a great and valuable tool in open water swimming events and triathlons. However, there is too much emphasis on wetsuits being “necessary” for athletes to do multisport events. You don’t need to wear a wetsuit to do a triathlon.

  • Coach Tip Tuesday: A Longer Goal Isn't a Better Goal
    Jul 3 2024

A big fallacy in the world of endurance sports is that longer is better. But longer races are not inherently more impressive, meaningful, or significant. Don’t fall into the trap that you must always do something “bigger and better” when it comes to setting goals for yourself.

  • Coach Tip Tuesday: Why Race Execution Matters
    Jun 25 2024

If you’re like most athletes, after you’ve worked consistently and diligently in training, you expect that that hard work will come to fruition on race day in the form of good race results. This is a reasonable expectation, but perhaps surprisingly, consistency and working hard in training isn’t enough to have a successful race.
