  • S16 Ep13: S16E13 - Pure Nintendo Filth
    Sep 16 2019
We mention on this week's show that the Axolotl is the cutest creature on the planet, controversial we know, but with the episode post we present all our key evidence.

This week on the Geek Show we have Pure Nintendo Filth that gives us our first bit of essential 'bleep' of our 300+ episode run. Also on the show we talk about Game of Thrones Cash-ins Plans; Amazon’s launches Alexa Answers to crowdsource answers that Alexa doesn’t already have; Chinese AI powered face swap APP being too powerful. MIT have created a colour changing ink; German city wants proof that don’t exists; and lastly, Doom Meat Vodka. That last one has gave us our favourite game ever, tune in to find out what it is.

  • S16 Ep12: S16E12 - Roomba on Hoover Violence
    Aug 29 2019
The Geek Show returns once again to dip its toes in pop culture, science and technology news, and as usual things take a turn for the weird.

The big story this week is the Sony-Marvel divorce - which basically means no more Spider-Man in the MCU after the current plans are finished. After that we discover a potential fourth Matrix movie, using goats to prevent forest fires, fossils of comically large birds in New Zealand, Youtube actually admitting to a mistake, robotic exo-shorts, autonomous self-riding bicycles, possibly radioactive vodka, and a story that proves that while the British are just as weird as the rest of the world.

  • S16 Ep11: S16E11 - Non-Denominational K-Pop Stars
    Aug 7 2019
After a short break between episodes (on account of one of the hosts moving house), The Geek Show returns for our regular, bi-monthly look at the weird and crusty outer layer of science and technology news with a podcasting taste that really shouldn't be licked.

Like that trailer for Cats. Yikes ....

Anyway, anthropomorphism seems to be the order of the day as a collaboration of international scientists in China claim to have created hybridised monkey-human embryos, while the Japanese Science Ministry is all for the creation of "humanimals" ... we won't get into that particular discussion though.

In other news, McDonald's new environmentally-friendly paper straws are apparently not recyclable at the moment, Ebay have filed a lawsuit against Amazon for trying to steal sellers, mobile phone company Vivo is touting an all-screen smartphone, a UK data science company has developed a new AI program for bars and pubs, a woman was arrested for making counterfeit money on an inkjet printer, a man in Siberia is suing a psychic firm for failing to bring back his estranged wife, researchers in Japan have created a wearable quasi-prehensile tail for humans, and a Malaysian goat has become gone viral because it looks like a K-Pop star.

There's lots of fun for all the family on this episode of The Geek Show.

Thanks for listening and don't forget to give us a rating wherever you get your podcasts and give us a follow on Twitter while you are at it. If you like what you heard, bless you, if you can send us some support by throwing us a few pounds a month on PATREON. • S16 Ep9: S16E09 - Stegosaurus Mike or Go Home
    Jun 25 2019
We've been away for a little while because of E3 (check out our coverage on our YouTube channel, and don't forget to subscribe while you are there), but we won't dwell on that because things other than video games have been happening in the world.

So, kicking things off this week is the reaction of Marvel fans to the company's mysterious Twitter countdown and subsequent reveal, before we move on to a gang used the identity of a French minister to steal $90 million in a Mission Impossible-style scam. In other news, Facebook are launching a digital currency, Huawei apparently have their own operating system already in development, a Japanese technology company have created a virtual male "influencer", a Norwegian city wants to do away with time, a new start-up wants pogo sticks to be the new mode of transport, a Brazilian pet shop chain has created facial recognition for dogs, Dutch police have are offering samples of a special perfume to the public in an effort to fight crime, and a Japanese clothing company has developed a t-shirt with inflatable muscles to be worn under other clothes.

That's your lot for this episode. We'll see you all next time on The Geek Show!
