I think one of the reasons that made moving a bit easier is where we were in Berwick when we built that house we actually had cows up to the back door. It was still quite rural and in the end we were just surrounded by freeway. If you're going out during the day you could never go you know around nine o'clock or come back about 3, 3.30 because of school hours. You always wanted to get home before that because the traffic was just incredible. So I think that was one of the reasons that I was happy to leave Berwick. And also we had a lot of support from our children you know they were really happy for us to you know move to a quieter area and that's not too far you know it's like an hour and a half driving to see them so it's not bad. But I think the house that we bought probably too because being the only one that we actually physically looked at and we just both fell in love with it straight away.

Every time I go away anywhere, like we've done a lot of outback travel. We drove across the Simpson desert. I ended up making a massive series of big paintings about the Simpson. We came down the Canning Stock Route just before COVID. And I sit in the car and I draw everything that goes past. And so the diaries I did for that, I made into a big, big artwork. And then I made lots of artworks, you know, from that. And some of them I'd collected bits of slate and things like that from the area and actually used them in the artwork. So, yeah, if you're stuck in one place, for me anyway, you see more clearly when you go somewhere new, I think.

And all of a sudden you're noticing the things around you.

You're noticing cycles and the seasons and rain.

When you're living in the city, rain is a nuisance and it's cold and revolting.

But when you've got a farm or even if you've got a garden, you think, "Oh gee, rain. That's fantastic. How good to have that water." You are looking for signs that the grass is growing.

It is such a thrill at calving time when those new little calves appear. It's very grounding.

And I love the connection between what we're doing with our farm animals and the grass and also what we're doing with the nature around us. So having that connection between the biodiversity and the farm, they're not mutually exclusive. They both work together.

I prefer to use vintage materials, which again is directly linked to the graphic design because I understand the skill and the processes that we use to create

those pieces of paper, which I take from old books. And then it's really just using those materials and the beauty of them and the colour and the textures and then highlighting them in a piece of art. So, I've recently had a bit of a breakthrough with my practice where I've started making landscapes based on this environment. So people, if they see any of my work, it's currently at Little Oberon in Fish Creek, but if they see any of the work, they may recognise some of the scenes like Inverloch, Walkerville, the inlet, Powlett River, that sort of thing. Places where I love to walk and found very healing. But in this body of work, I'm using paintings from old masters, particularly.

I think in coaching, my coaching is very much values based. So it's about sort of working with the person to identify what their value, their core values are. And it's really interesting how many people might think that they've already done that work, you know, equally a lot of people have never done that. What they've never been asked, what are your core values? And then let's look at where your life is meeting your values and where it's not. And it's really like, that's when stuff really just pops out really easily. Because if you're not living your life to your values, there's going to be health problems, mental health problems, work problems, career, you know, all it's all, you know, it's all there. But often, everything that's wrong is too overwhelming to be able to see that there's actually a really simple core problem.

You know, I went around to all these different sites thinking, I wonder what the people who actually first constructed this would think now if they saw hordes of tourists and these buildings still standing. You know, yeah, it really sort of…it opens up a fascinating sort of narrative, I think, on the human condition and, you know, just how long we are here for.

And what we can do now to really, not so much make a mark for ourselves, you know, that's more of an egotistical type of thing, I suppose. But make a mark, a positive mark for humankind going forward.

'It's not even been a year yet. And I've met so many amazing, wonderful people and always, always ready to give you a hand with anything. Literally the other week, I was, I'm always on the lookout for mulch, and the Gippsland Shire guys are out cutting some trees down my road.

And I was asking them if they would deliver us some mulch and they're like, "No we can't do that. We take it back to our depot now." And there was a guy standing there talking to them with his dog, complete stranger to me. He turned around and he said, "Oh, I've got some on my block if you want to come and pick it up this afternoon." And I was just like, I was blown away. Things like that happen all the time, and I was just blown away by complete strangers just saying, "Hey, I can help you." So that's been my experience consistently so far.'

'I was listening to a lot of podcasts about bird photography.

And I remember hearing them say stuff that just became so true.

You know, people talk and say, oh, God, when you first got with your camera and people say, wow, that should be in National Geographic.

And it's true, you know, and you kind of take these pictures and you think, wow, that's amazing.

And you look back at it now and you think, what was I doing?

And, you know, I'm sure in a couple of years time, I'll be looking back at what I'm doing now saying, oh, that wasn't very good.

But, yeah, so it's become a thing. I'm more about the photography than I am about the actual twitching.'
