• #33- Retreat
    Feb 23 2024

We are finishing up our renew, resist, and retreat series. The last subject is retreat, I know many of us men were taught never to retreat, however, there are many things we should retreat from. One of these things is a negative outlook about yourself and negative self-talk.

Have you ever been around that guy who puts himself down or thinks he gets all the bad breaks? He’s that guy that says “I’ll never be….fill in the blank”, he’s the guy who says “can’t have nothing” and believes it. My southern friends will get the last one. I’ve been around some of these guys in my lifetime, some of them mask this with humor, trying to make you think they’re joking when they say these things but deep down they really mean what they’re saying about themselves. Perhaps you may be letting negative self-talk infiltrate your mind. If so, we need to Recognize the Problem.

  • #32: Resist
    Feb 7 2024

We are continuing our topics on renew, resist, and retreat. Today we are talking about resist passivity, this is a critical issue that affects many men. The impact of a passive man can be harmful to your relationship with your wife and have a negative effect on your children not just in the present but perhaps in their future as well. A passive man often fails to take initiative, make decisions, or lead his family. This passivity can lead to a breakdown in communication, a lack of direction, and an overall sense of instability within the family.

The reasons why some men may exhibit passive behavior can be complex and multifaceted. Various internal and external factors can contribute to passivity in individuals. It's important to note that individual men are unique, and these factors can interact differently for different people. This episode offers some common reasons why some men may display passive behavior. And because we want to see men become excellent we will offer some basic approaches that help you if you find that you are a passive man.

    Jan 19 2024

What are some things you need to renew, resist or retreat?

Perhaps we can look at these areas of life to help guide our thoughts.

    1. relationships/family & friends -renew an old friendship, resist that toxic, dysfunctional family member(s), retreat from that person who is not your spouse that you may be getting a little too close with
    2. personal development-renew your reading habit, resist passivity, retreat from a negative outlook about yourself
    3. health & fitness - renew your workout routine, resist cheating on your diet, retreat from thoughts about giving up and letting you health go.
    4. finances - renew your savings plans, resist impulsive purchases, retreat from this subscriptions that drain your bank account
    5. career / business -renew your enthusiasm about your work, resist passivity, retreat from a toxic atmosphere
    6. recreation / fun -renew your spontaneity, resist the “I don’t have time attitude, retreat from your unwillingness to plan(don’t blame your partner for not planning if you’re not willing to plan)
    7. faith / spirituality -renew your mind with the word of God, resist your thoughts of skipping this part of your life, Retreat from giving up on God all together because someone at the church hurt you. The church is made up of humans who are going to mess it up. You may come from a background that really messed it up with you. I’ve heard horror stories about how “people in the church got it wrong” big time. Those people are not God and even though the people let you down, God loves you and wants a relationship with you. He’s not as concerned about you having a relationship with the church, he’s concerned about His relationship with you.
