  • 163. THE TOP 1O MENTAL PRACTICES TO DO NOW!! - TO TAKE YOUR GAME TO THE NEXT LEVEL

There is an old saying, "Practice makes perfect." If only that were true, but practice always results in improvement and gains. A game of golf is complex enough without introducing more practice protocols—allegedly to help us improve. Once the basic mechanics have been mastered, golf is a mental game. Yet, no one practices that mental gate because they do not believe it is possible; it can only be learned through real-world experience.

We should practice many areas of the mental game, both on and off the course. This will improve our golf and other aspects of our lives.

Reading books about cooking will not turn you into a chef. You have to put in the practice.

In today's podcast, I will discuss things you can do right now to exercise your mental processes, play better golf, and experience a higher level of performance in other areas of your life.

With the final Major of the year upon us, golf fans around the world get to see what they love the most: the drama and excitement of the greatest players in the world competing head-to-head. This year, the Open Championship goes to Troon in Scotland, which last hosted the event in 2016, which saw the great head-to-head duel between Henrik Stenson and Phil Mickelson.

Scottish Links golf epitomises the open championship, with pot bunkers and penal rough and uneven surfaces both in the fairway and on the green. Nowhere in tournament golf does the expression "luck of the bounce" appear more relevant. Hoping to continue on the hot streak of Golfing Mind podcasts success in picking both winners and top-five finishes this week, Robin and guest cohost Matt 'Lucky' Barr (who picked Bryson DeChambeau to win the US Open last month) discuss the players in form the players to look out for and who they separately believe will hold the Claret jug on Saturday evening.

There is no such thing as a sure thing, but our predictions I have been on a very hot streak, as can be shown by listening to past broadcasts, so perhaps this may be an opportunity to put a few bets on a few players and sit on the edge of your seat for four days.

Over the last 40 years, I have had many interesting conversations with friends and others about golf. Some of the questions that arise are somewhat earnest and serious about the state of the game, but more often than not, they are random, frivolous, downright silly and then, of course, there are the perennial old favourites that you're asked regularly by other golfers. This week I thought it would be interesting and fun to share these 15 questions with regular cohost Matt Barr and see how he navigated his way around the questions. I also share my thoughts and reflections on my answers
