The Lonely Londoner

By: Jodie Coulson
  • Summary

  • Hey!

I'm Jodie, I'm 31, I live in London and I have found adulting to be a lot more challenging than I thought!

It turns out that navigating life isn't as easy as I'd thought it would be...

I moved to London in 2021 to pursue a career in media and advertising, but I found it really difficult to make friends, and loneliness settled in pretty quickly.

I have since, made a lovely bunch of friends, and have decided to talk about all things life and adulting, coming from my lens as "The Lonely Londoner".

Not all of the topics will be London related, this is an honest podcast for absolutely anyone - I will talk about very real things in my life, and chat about the good and the bad!

If this sounds like your cup of tea, then grab yourself one of those and settle in with me, The Lonely Londoner - Jodie Coulson.

    Episode Transcript:

Hello, Hello and welcome back to the lonely Londoner. I'm your host, Jodie Coulson. So in season one, we covered topics such as surviving life rather than thriving, different forms of education and making lemonade when life just keeps giving you lemons. But all of that was just the start. In season two, we're diving even deeper, challenging beauty standards and navigating the complexities of relationships both romantic and platonic. Delving into the power of therapy and the importance of choosing the life you truly want. As always, through the lens of my own personal experiences. Plus, in addition to all of that, this season I'm adding something new: mini episodes focusing on a topic close to my heart - Finances, because let's be honest, financial literacy is something many of us didn't learn enough about in school, and it's something I still struggle with. And if you do too, then we're going to try and go on this journey together and figure it all out. So join me as we not only explore the many experiences of life, but also learn practical tips and tricks to navigate the world of money. Together we’ll empower ourselves to make informed decisions, build a secure future, and live life to the absolute fullest. So gird your loins people. Season two is coming and I cannot wait to see you there.

Hi Everyone and welcome to episode 5.

This has been quite a difficult week for me, my housemate who I moved in with 4 months ago has decided that she doesn't want to live with someone anymore. (It's her flat).

This means that by the end of November if I haven't found somewhere to move to - I will be homeless AGAIN!

BUT I've decided to be grateful for this new spanner in the works, this new Lemon to add to all the other lemons that life has given me.

In fact, I'm going to perfect the world's best lemonade and get through this like a champ!

  • One Small Step For Me, One Giant Leap For My Mental Health

Hello, and welcome to The Lonely Londoner - A podcast which is basically just my stream of consciousness, whenever I feel like recording it.

In this episode, I talk about implementing small changes in my life, which have made a big impact.

I talk about the concept that "Anything worth doing, is worth doing poorly" (clearly something I implement when it comes to my upload schedule)

The example I'm using in this episode is about myself, my health, and my weight, If this topic is sensitive to you, then perhaps proceed with caution.

I decided to record this one at midnight when it's about a million degrees out, so just know that whilst I was recording this I had to turn my fan off (you're welcome) but I was also using a wet towel to try and stay cool - not relevant to the episode - just keeping it real.
