    I'm so honored to have this very special mom in studio with me today! Please welcome Haliey Meske MSN, RN Children’s Wisconsin- Clinical Nurse Educator, Emergency Department Trauma Center ENPC/TNCC Instructor. Outside of being a ladyboss in the workforce, she's also a beauiful mother of two daughters Laine (9yrs) and Nora (5yrs) and happily married to her husband Mark! Hailey joins me today to share how blood cancer has touched her family. Her precious daugher Laine was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia, when she was only 9 months old. Every parent's worst nightmare "your child has cancer." Today we will learn how this fierce and beaufiul mother not only stayed strong for her family, but was able to fight the biggest fight of her life her "daughter's." Hailey will share her daughter's cancer journey, where she got her strength from, where is Laine now in her cancer journey, what she hopes for her daughter's future and how this beautiful 9 year old is this years "HERO" when it comes to Blood Cancer United of Wisconsin "Visionaires of the Year."

    BIO information: I am a mom to 2 girls: Laine 9 years old and Nora 5 years old. We also have a puppy named Tucker and a cat named Norman. We live in Lake Mills, WI. I am from Manitowoc, WI. I went to college in Waukesha at Carroll University for Nursing. Obtained my master’s degree in Nursing Education. I have practiced in a couple of different specialties including Adult Oncology, Adult Critical Care, and now Pediatric Emergency Medicine. I taught at the collegiate level for nursing education. I am now the Clinical Educator in the Emergency Department at Children’s Wisconsin in Milwaukee. My husband (Mark) and I met at our first nursing jobs at Waukesha Memorial. We both now work in pediatric medicine. We will be married for 10 years this June. In September of 2017, our 9 month old daughter Laine was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. Thankfully Laine has been in remission for over 8 years.

    Today I had the pleasure of meeting the amazing Jenny Dean, whom I have had the opportunity of having her husband & friend Troy Dean on my show in the past. Troy said "Krista you got to have my wife on your podcast, because she has a very special story. Well, that statement couldn't of been any truer. Today, Jenny shares with us what it was like being a teen mom. When it comes to Jenny becoming such a young mom is not like most stories of teen pregnancies. We learn why Jenny wanted to have children at a younger age. We will learn what she was most afraid of, what decision changed her direction in life, how she defy the stigma, and what advise would she give young parents. We will also learn how this young mother became an Entrepreneur of 2 businesses in Waunakee, WI. She opened "Sunlife Tanning Salon" and J.Lash Studios. We will also dive into the success of here beautiful marriage and the blessings that they have shared with their children. This story is truly inspiring and I couldn't of been more happier for this incredible mom providing the most loving bond with her kiddos.

    It's a privilege to have special guest Taylor Jackson "Chief Education & People Officer" at Boys & Girls Clubs of Dane County and John McKenzie Philanthropist and owner of McKenzie Apartment Company for joining me today on the "Madtown Mom Squad" podcast! Today we sit down and talk about the tremendous donation of $200,000 that John and his wife JoEllen have made towards the BGCDC "Youth Mentoring Program." These two fabulous organizations have the same passion when it comes to our kiddos in our community. Their mission is to improve our community with special focus on helping disadvangtaged youth find support, guidance, and career training. They will share with us their vison, how this will help our children's education, and what we can do as a community to help support such a cause.

Rachel is an expert in this discussion as she unfortunately had to battle her body being in constant pain and her hormones going out of wack. Rachel decided to use her voice to medical experts that what she is going through is REAL and how she made the decision to have a full hysterectomy.

    Get to Know Lori:

    Lori Schultz is the Development Outreach Events Strategist for UW Health Kids, where she works with Community Partners to raise funds for American Family Children’s Hospital. A valued member of the UW Health Events Team since 2015, Lori brings a wealth of experience in building relationships and creating stewardship opportunities with the donors and partners she works with annually. She attends numerous events throughout the year working with groups that range in size from school groups to large cooperation's. Lori also coordinates, organizes and executes the annual American Family Children’s Hospital Radiothon where she works with the staff and leadership at Mid-West Family Broadcasting here in Madison as well as scheduling patient families who share their stories of being treated at our world-class hospital. Lori gets to know the families on a personal level and is able to share their stories with the marketing team and other UW Health event planners when they need a patient family and story to share. Lori has another role with UW Health as a Patient Advocate for the St. Baldrick’s Foundation – Stand Up to Cancer Pediatric Cancer Dream Team. She works closely with the Pediatric Cancer Team here in Madison to help them share their research with the public in terms that everyone can understand. Patient Advocacy is close to Lori’s heart as she lost her daughter Kristina to childhood cancer back in 2007. She knows the importance of research and works to not only bring awareness to the research being done right here in Madison, but also helps to raise money for that all important work.
