  • Today we will continue our sermon series in the book of Jeremiah called Jeremiah: The Prophet and His Message. Pastor Mike Engbers shares a sermon called "The Message: A Community That Turns Away". The Scripture passages are Jeremiah 2:1-22 and John 2:13-24.

    We can be distracted from God’s love and grace and get sidetracked, even forgetting who God has called us to be. We see that is what Judah is accused of despite all God had done for Israel. Even Jesus encountered this in the cleansing of the temple, but what we have to be thankful for is God sent Jesus to draw us back to Him, and to offer us forgiveness so we have a renewed relationship with the Triune God through the grace and sacrifice of Jesus. From this, we should remember what God has done – do what we need to root ourselves in the truth of God’s good works and not be distracted by the world, and embrace the renewed relationship with God we have in Jesus.
