  • Let's Go To Camp! - Jim Krohn Interview
    Jun 8 2022

Why is camp such an important part of a young person's development? Why should you send your kids to camp? Do camps actually take reasonable precautions to safeguard our children?

These (and more) are great questions you may have. These questions deserve great answers. On this episode of The Micah McCurry podcast, I'm privileged to welcome Pastor Jim Krohn back as my first two time guest on the podcast. As the Director of Commonground Baptist Camp, a long time former Youth Pastor, and now Senior Pastor, he has much of value to share.

    Thank you for listening today.

  • Calling All Bibliophiles!
    Jun 3 2022

I need your help. Among the many listeners of this podcast, I am sure there are at least a few book lovers that can help me out. Could you share a tidbit of information with me?

I'd like to know what your absolute favoritest book is. Besides the Bible, what is one (or two or three) book(s) that you would have to bring with you to a deserted island? Send me a text at 309-316-7240 or an email to micah@bibletractsinc.org to share what that book might be.

I am building out my reading list for the rest of 2022 and I need some input from you!

  • McCurry Family Update!
    May 31 2022
Transcript:Hello, friend. Welcome and thank you for listening to the Micah McCurry Podcast. Today, we will be talking about where this podcast is going, what my family and our ministry have been doing, and we will share just a few of God's blessings. Thank you so much for listening. Let me begin with my family. My wife and I are celebrating our ninth wedding anniversary as of June 1, 2022. I'm very thankful for my wife. And I should probably take the time soon to have her on this podcast. I don't know if she'll go for that idea or not. But I'll try to twist her arm into it. But I love the opportunity that we have to serve God together. I'm thankful for the children that God has brought to us. But of course, children grow and go on to their own families and lives. And so I'm glad that I get to spend the rest of my life and have begun with these first nine years with Rebecca Woodward McCurry; I'm thankful that she's become a part of my family, my brothers, and my mom and dad. We'll spend a few days there and then in Branson, actually Branson, Missouri, for our anniversary. I'm looking forward to that. But I'm very glad for the family that I've been adopted into the Woodward family. Pastor Dan Woodward and his wife Cindy, my mother-in-law, and my sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law. Very thankful for all of them. And the fact that we get to serve God together. Moving on to my children. Emmy is growing like a weed; on June 21, she will celebrate her fifth birthday. Can you believe it? As many fathers would say, just a short time ago, I held her in my arms for the first time, and now, she is five years old. Somehow, Lucy, her younger sister, is only one pound lighter than her elder sister, who is 18-19 months older. So they are a barrel of trouble together. They are firecrackers, but we love them. And so they have fun getting into a lot of trouble. And we enjoy the opportunities to raise those two darlings. In all seriousness, I'm very thankful for my family. And I'm grateful for many of you that pray for and care about our family. If you're listening right now, and even if you don't know us personally, I want to thank you for even taking these few moments to hear an update about the McCurry family. If there's anything that we can do for you, don't hesitate to reach out at the close of the podcast. I'll tell you more about how you might do that. Moving on to our ministry. I'm very thankful for the opportunities that God has presented to our family but also on the ministry side. Of course, many of you would know that I have now passed the two-year mark in full-time evangelism. I had the privilege of serving for five and a half years in Akron, Ohio, under the leadership of Pastor Joe Grimaldi at the First Baptist Church of Kenmore. With his counsel and many other wise men, I stepped out into evangelism as of January 1, 2020. That was an interesting time; as many of you may be aware, the world shuts down just a few months later, but God has led perfectly through every step. Speaking of God leading perfectly, many of you know or heard that there was a possibility I would be taking a missions trip soon. Unfortunately, we canceled that. My travel companion and guide, Bahji Bob or Bob DeWitt, the director of Golden Land Baptist Missions, had some visa complications. Long story short, we canceled those plans or postponed those plans. Lord willing, we will still go to Myanmar (old Burma) and India. God willing, we continue to print millions of gospel tracts for the needy, Burmese, and Buddhist people of that corner of the world. If you pray for those outreach efforts, we're very excited about what God has already done. I've already seen pictures of the very first couple of 1000 that have already been printed over there in Yangon, the capital city of Myanmar. And so if you pray for us, and if you consider if the Lord lays on your heart, consider giving towards that project you can do so at Bible tracks. inc.org God has already raised the money for the first million gospel tracks. We're pushing for two, three or 4 million gospel tracts if the Lord allows. We've also got some projects to Ecuador Central and South America multiple projects going on to Spanish speaking countries down there. So if you Pray for that I know of at least a quarter-million going to Ecuador and another quarter-million going into Mexico and parts around there. In addition, we are sending a quarter-million to the country of New Zealand good friend of our ministry brother Lewis, how I got to preach virtually to some churches over in New Zealand and Lord willing, I'll be preaching in person in New Zealand, coming this February. So pray that different circumstances don't delay or cancel that trip either. I would love to go visit New Zealand. Speaking of where this podcast is going, many of you know that the Micah McCurry live podcast as it was known at the beginning now just simply Micah McCurry podcast or the Micah McCurry podcast. It began ...

  • A Brand New Song for Our Generation - Send Us
    Oct 26 2021
Hey, Friends! A mentor, former boss, and friend of mine wrote this song not too long ago. I asked Pastor Joe Grimaldi to write this for my generation and he did a great job! It was our privilege to sing this at a conference recently. I hope you enjoy it! Link to full song: https://youtu.be/L6vgtKmIrd4 Lyrics: Send Us by Joe Grimaldi Verse 1 For years they thundered boldly, from the pulpits across our land They firmly guided churches, with the Bible in their hand. But now their shadows lengthen; the course they run will end. And who will take their places, who will our Lord send? Chorus Here we are Lord, send us. This mantle to us they do entrust. Give us a double portion, that we may do Thy will. Here we are Lord, send us. That we may do them honor, whose shoes we’re called to fill. Verse 2 Your grace has brought us thus far, but we cannot live in the past. We need a fresh anointing, to accomplish this daunting task. We come with fear and trembling, our flesh too weak for the call. But your Spirit is strong within us, we bravely sing to all. (chorus) Verse 3 We plead with the next generation, whose blessings they’ve reaped from the past. Oh won’t you come and join us, while opportunity lasts. The race is set before us, our course for God is begun. The baton is being handed. Who will our Lord send? (chorus)
