• Dr. Eric J. Chambers, Founder & President Tubman Till Foundation
    Jul 29 2024
Dr. Eric J. Chambers was born December 10, 1962 in New Orleans, LA, I dreamed dreams of becoming a radio/TV host. I was 11 years old. It is proof that this is not an overnight vision, but one that was born inside of me. I have stayed the course, even when criticized continuously by family and friends to get a “real” job. Professionally, my TV career was launched in the mailroom at KGTV10 in February 1986 while I was still in the Navy. (I got out in March 1986.) While slinging mail, unlike the othermessengers who were wearing jeans and t-shirts, I always dressed in a suit. It caught the attention of others. By August of 1986, I started working in the newsroom as a grip (photographer’s assistant). Once eligible to operate the video gear, some days I would go in on Saturday morning at 9am to practice video editing, and wouldn’t leave until 6am Sunday morning to go home and head to church with my then-wife. I was determined to learn this craft. It paid off years later with 9 Emmys and Golden Mike Awards working at CBS in Hollywood. He has authored several books, is the Founder/CEO of his own production company.

  • Elon Musk says his trans child “killed by the woke mind virus,”
    Jul 26 2024
Instead of reflecting back on support given to his daughter, Musk has chosen to rewrite his child’s story to reflect his political agenda. An agenda that many in the Republican Party have adopted with vigor around the country in the 2024 legislative session. Following the interview, the Harris campaign sent out a statement on what it called “a 78-year-old criminal’s Fox News appearance.” “After watching Fox News this morning we only have one question, is Donald Trump OK?” the statement said before listing its takeaways. Among them: “Trump is old and quite weird” and “This guy shouldn’t be president ever again.”

  • SCOTUS in shambles, POTUS's bedtime, Ageism, How old is too old? R U stepping up
    Jul 12 2024
Suddenly, it seems like our most prominent elected officials are quite … elderly. In the next presidential election, we may be choosing between the oldest president ever (Joe Biden, who would be 82 at the start of his second term) and the second oldest (Donald Trump, who would be 78 at the start of the term). The advanced age of candidates and incumbents, and the duration of their tenure, is striking: Think Mitch McConnell, Nancy Pelosi, Mitt Romney and the late Dianne Feinstein. There’s a reason for this, according to USC experts, and it’s a mixture of good news and bad news for our democracy“To get elected today, a candidate needs massive amounts of money and name recognition, both of which are hard to acquire without significant life experience,” said Kamy Akhavan, executive director of the Center for the Political Future at the USC Dornsife College of Letters, Arts and Sciences. “While there are some members of Congress who are millennials and even Gen Z, there are also freshmen Sen. John Hickenlooper, 71, and Sen. Bill Hagerty, 64. They both had many years of political and business experience before running for Senate.” From USC Today

    Jul 11 2024
In 1975, Moore signed with Buddah Records and released the critically successful R&B album Peach Melba, which included the minor hit "I Am His Lady". The following year, she scored her first significant hit with Van McCoy-penned "This is it" which reached the Billboard Hot 100, the top-20 position on the R&B chart, & top-10 on the UK Singles chart, becoming her biggest success in that country."This is It" also became the number 1 disco track in the UK for that year. In 1976, she scored her third Grammy nomination with the R&B ballad "Lean on Me", which had been originally recorded by Vivian Reed and later by Moore's idol Aretha Franklin, who recorded the song as a B-side of her 1971 hit "Spanish Harlem". The song is most notable for Moore's extended long note at the end. In 1983, she re-recorded the song as a tribute to McCoy, who had died four years earlier. Throughout the rest of the 1970s, Moore struggled to match the success of "This Is It" with minor R&B/dance

The Jazz Group Founded by the Acclaimed Brazilian Drummer/Composer, Is Set to Tour This Fall in Support the New Release! LOS ANGELES, Calif. (July 5, 2024) – Acclaimed drummer and songwriter Marcelo Bucater has released “After the Storm,” a new album from his jazz band, the Marcelo Bucater Quartet. The album is available now on vinyl. “I am thrilled to be able to give our fans an exciting debut album that encapsulates what our music is all about,” Bucater said. “The title of the album and the song of the same name represents well the moment that we all had to go through during the pandemic and being able to not only survive but thrive and keep going.” The band, which is known for its jazzy riffs and colorful Brazilian rhythms, is made up of Bucater on drums, Ben Thomas on guitar, Osmar Okuma on bass and Jesse Audelo on saxophone. The band was founded by the veteran drummer who has performed with such artists as Carrie Underwood, Adam Levy, Arthur Verocai, Scott Henderson, of Chick Corea’s band; Ladybug Mecca of Digable Planets, and Adrian Younge of Jazz is Dead, as well as many other artists. The new instrumental album, features seven songs, is an extension of the band’s popular stage show which has been playing before packed audiences for the past year. “There is one song in the new album that I wrote to my grandmother which is very special,” he said. “It’s called ‘Alba,’ which is her name, and it is a very special one. She is 96 years young and it's a homage to her. The quartet had a very important role in the arrangement, allowing the composition to have elements that represent well the spirit of my grandma, sweet, gentle, but at the same time very resilient and strong. It starts with guitar and bass only, giving the idea that is a ballad, but it develops after the drums and saxophone join to a very spiritual solo.”
