  • Your Communication GPS: Navigate Roadblocks w/Intentions & Impact Others
    Jul 20 2023

Setting clear intentions in communication--it acts as your personal GPS to navigate through challenges and roadblocks.

Learn why it's crucial to establish intentions before taking action.

This simple shift in mindset can save you time, ENERGY, and bring you closer to your desired outcomes and more meaningful connections.

All the way back when I was 6, was about a year after my parents separated. I got to spend a bit of time around this one after school program leader.

Her impact created a ripple effect on me that got me to then work with children for quite some time. Whether it was aquatic therapy, educational camps, working at the Children's hospital, or sports classes, I’ve had quite a bit of experience working with children. Partly, it was me paying it forward.

I remember she had the most contagious and good energy with the most  genuine heart. She wasn't a supervisor. She gave individual attention to every single kid there. I got to be one of them. And it was what I needed at that time.

Fast forward after years of moving from place, to place, to place, I planted back to where I grew up and got hired as an instructor for specialty classes.

Funny enough, all those years later I had come full circle when I ran into her in the staff room. We caught up, connected, and I told her the role she played in my life at that time.

I have so many great moments teaching there, but this one stands out in particular.

I had the pleasure of learning from one of MY students.

That experience shapes how I approach my interactions, and here, I share it with you.

  • Your standards become your life's filter
    Jun 22 2023

    No more repeatedly unmet expectations.

    4 key takeaways:

    • Creating expectations removes the control from internal to external

    • The type and quality of water that’s in your current season indicates what filtering system you chose to build. It reflects the environment we have cultivated.

    • There is an importance of building the right filtering system for our lives and your standards lay the foundations.

    • The standards you uphold and continuously update builds your life’s filter.

A not-really-a-letter letter to 5-years-ago me: (using a common household item)

Partying and drinking too much to “escape home”,

Studying super hard for hours on end on subjects plated for my dad’s dream

Letting family disruptions eat me inside-out

Hurting myself time and time again with expectations

The type and quality of water that’s in your current season of life indicates what filtering system you chose to build. It reflects the environment we cultivate.

I looked at the type of water surrounding me and I knew I had to change the type of filter I was using.
