    On the latest edition of “The Parting Schotts Podcast,” Daily Gazette of Schenectady (N.Y.) sports editor Ken Schott has a plethora of college hockey news.

    Schott has interviews from Monday’s media day for the Union College men’s and women’s hockey teams. On the men’s side, head coach Josh Hauge and players Josh Nixon, Lucas Buzziol, Nate Hanley, John Prokop and Parker Lindauer are interviewed. On the women’s side, Schott has interviews with new head coach Tony Maci and players Sophie Matsoukas and Maren Friday.

    On Wednesday, the men’s ECAC Hockey coaches held their media day. Schott asked Quinnipiac head coach Rand Pecknold on hiring for Union head coach Rick Bennett as an assistant coach. Schott talked with Cornell head coach Mike Schafer about his decision to retire after this season.

    The Gazette’s Adam Shinder talks about local college football. He joins Schott to review Union’s loss to Springfield. They will preview Union’s game Saturday at Montclair State, and UAlbany's CAA opener against Maine at Tom & Mary Casey Stadium on Saturday.
