    This week Emma is joined by Dr Nick Prior. Nick is an NHS psychiatrist specialising in mental health and also co-founder of Minderful, a mental fitness platform. Motivated by his own diagnosis and family struggles with bipolar disorder, Nick trained as a doctor and psychiatrist and now works in the NHS. He shares how his own mental health journey gives him a unique insight into the importance of taking care of the mind, how he helps his patients and discusses the various treatment options available, from prescription drugs to social prescriptions. He also touches on the stigmas surrounding mental health, what it’s like to be a psychiatrist in the NHS right now and the changes he would like to see in the future. Nick is passionate and inspiring, and it’s an absolutely fascinating episode.

  • Riding to the limit with Robin Gemperle

    This week Emma is joined by ultracyclist, Robin Gemperle. This summer Robin won the Transcontinental Race (TCR), known as the hardest European ultra cycling race, in a remarkable 8 days, 23 hours, and 59 minutes. The race is free route while encompassing several control points and this year it started in Roubaix, France, and finished in Istanbul, Turkey, with riders covering over 4,000km and traversing at least 10 different countries. It was Robin’s third TCR, and it was indeed, third time lucky. Robin shares what makes him push his body to the extreme and how it felt to clinch the win, amongst a glittering line-up of well-known riders. He talks about what the sport of cycling means to him and what he has his sights set on next. But Robin is not just an ultracyclist, he is a man of many talents; DJ, restauranteur, architect, to name a few, and he shares his love for spinning many different plates but also reveals where he wants his focus to rest.

She started training at the age of 7, and at 10 she stepped into the ring for her first fight, her passion for the sport is unrelenting from the get go. Now fighting adults, Ellie shares her unique insight into the principles and traditions of Muay Thai, how she prepares for a fight, and how finding the sport has helped her manage her anger issues.   • From Death Valley to Denali with Oli France

    This week Emma is joined by Oli France, adventurer and expedition leader.

    Oli has just become the first Brit to complete the 3,556-mile journey from Death Valley to Denali, the lowest point on the North American continent at 86 metres below sea level to the highest at 6,194 metres entirely by human-power.

    This expedition is part of The Ultimate Seven Project - a record breaking challenge where Oli hopes to become the first person to travel from the lowest geographical point to the highest on all seven continents - entirely by human power.

    Oli is also an expedition leader, where he specialises in leading people to some extreme places, in the jungles of the Congo, deserts, avalanches, earthquakes, you name it, this guy has seen it. He’s dragged a sled across a frozen lake in Siberia, solo.

    Oli is pure inspiration, so be prepared to hear some mad stories and want to plan your own adventure.

    In this episode, Emma is joined by Phoebe Parsons who is extremely passionate and knowledgeable about animal welfare.

    Phoebe is currently the PR officer for the PDSA, the UK’s leading veterinary charity, and has also worked for the Dog's Trust. Her love for animals is infectious, not least when she talks about her two rescue dogs, Ziggy and Olive, who she adopted during her time at the Dog's Trust.

    Phoebe discusses the debate around breed banning, particularly XL bullies, talks about the intricacies of the world of domestic and international adoption and shares a nugget of wisdom about rabbits.
