The Sacrifices of Esther Bridget Latham

  • Resumen

  • In 1928, Esther Latham was especially selected by the Tarcutta Soldiers’ Memorial Hall Committee to lay the engraved marble block commemorating the opening of the new hall. In selecting her, the community was recognising the very great sacrifice she had made for her country. But Esther never went to war; instead, four of her five sons joined the army between 1900 and 1915. By the time the hall was opened in 1928, they were all dead.
