William Shakespeare, or the Bard of Avon, is considered one of the greatest playwrights, poets and actors ever born; and is often regarded as the greatest writer in the English language as well as the world's greatest dramatist. He is a writer of many plays, sonnets, narrative poems and other major works and verses which have been translated into countless languages and performed throughout the ages.

Shakespeare remains arguably the most influential writer in the English language with his works continuing to be studied and reinterpreted in modernity. Join us as we take an exciting trip into the world of Shakespeare.

About this episode: Shakespeare’s ‘mirror up to nature’ encompasses every aspect of human being. It is common to explore his texts in terms of plot development, themes, imagery, historical background, sources/influences, rhetorical devices, linguistic analysis etc. This all has its place. But Shakespeare’s mirror up to nature goes deep. Deeper than perhaps any other writer has ever achieved. In this session, we will explore the different levels of meaning contained in these works and their power to transform our own understanding of ourselves and the world.
