In 1993, Nathan Dunlap, a 19-year-old former employee of Chuck E. Cheese, committed a mass shooting at the restaurant in Aurora, Colorado. He killed four employees and injured one before fleeing the scene. Dunlap had a troubled upbringing, experiencing abuse and witnessing his stepfather rape his sister. He had a history of criminal behavior and had expressed his desire to get even with his former boss. The shooting shocked the community and became Colorado's most deadly mass shooting at the time. Dunlap was eventually arrested and convicted for his crimes. The conversation discusses the aftermath of the Chuck E. Cheese massacre and also explores the controversy surrounding the temporary reprieve of Nathan's execution by Governor John Hickenlooper and the subsequent abolition of the death penalty in Colorado by Governor Jared Polis.
