    Feb 21 2022
As Black women, the stress of shrinking ourselves to fit into narrow presentations of what is deemed non-intimidating to others, under the guise of “professionalism”, demonstrates how Black women internalize microaggressions that limit both our success and joy. When we think about making a move in our careers or lives in pursuit of more success and joy, we often think of the tactical steps or processes involved. What we tend to focus less on, is the mental strategic shift that needs to take place first. We start with an end game in mind that might be based in financial or productivity goals instead of goals for flexibility, fulfillment, and freedom. Liku Amadi, of Anasa Law Firm, realizing that she was trying to unnecessarily conform to others' expectations, discusses the mental and tactical steps she took to make the mindset and career moves to be selfmore.
