  • The Odyssey: Homer vs. Plato vs. Nolan w/ Julian the Philosopher
    Jul 25 2026

Send us comments, suggestions and ideas here!

In this week’s episode we invite our friend Julian the Philosopher back on the show to discuss the mythic source material from which Christopher Nolan’s new film is based: The Odyssey. We discuss not just Nolan’s new film, but Homer’s Iliad and Odyssey, quite a bit of the historical context around these works of epic poetry, how these stories were thought of initially, criticized by Plato, recontextualized by Virgil, translated countless times and transformed into Nolan’s new blockbuster film. As part of our larger conversation, we discuss the dichotomy between the Homeric hero and the Platonic Hero of the mind, considering how each incarnation of the story fits into this framework or not. Thank you and enjoy the show :)

Send us comments, suggestions and ideas here!

In this week’s episode we are joined once again by the Mighty Julian the Philosopher to continue our discussion about the world’s most important philosophers, the ideas they championed and how we can use their wisdom to untangle the madness that has come to define our modern world. In this episode we focus on the most important mind to ever grace Western civilization; Plato, with some emphasis placed upon his dialogues in the Symposium and various arguments made in The Republic. In the extended side of the show we begin to explore how Plato’s teachings intersected with Nietzsche and Aleister Crowley, stopping to read some poetry from a number of the authors we discuss and conclude with a view of the dark, science fiction dystopia that stretches out before us on our next leg of the journey to seek the good life. Thank you and enjoy the show.

  • GHOST LORE: Roman Necromancy and the Shades of Ancient Greece
    Jun 27 2026

Send us comments, suggestions and ideas here!

In this week’s episode we explore the well-documented history of ghosts as they were recorded in classical Greek and Roman culture, owing to older motifs that originated in Sumeria. In the free side of the show we discuss Greek skepticism, spooky Roman holidays to propitiate the dead and an eerily vivid description of Thessalian necromancer Erichtho including a lengthy example of her method of invocation. I probably cursed myself reading. In the extended show we discuss the classical relationship between ghosts and dreams, the restless shades that dead Roman Emperors tend to produce, a revenant love story and what it means when the specter happens to be an enormous woman. Thank you and enjoy the show.

In this week’s episode we discuss:
    Ancient Sumerian Afterlife
Roman Ghost Rituals and Ghost Holidays
    Ancient Ghost Hauntings
    Necromancy: Erichto of Thessaly
    Ancient Skepticism: Lucian of Samosata
Pliny the Younger’s Accounts of Ghosts

In the extended episode available at www.patreon.com/TheWholeRabbit we go further and discuss:
    Dream Visitations
    Restless Roman Emperors
    A Revenant Love Story
    Warning Apparitions
    Where to Invoke Achilles

  • Kane Parson's "The Backrooms" Decoded: The Blasted Tower & The Red City (level 2)
    Jun 21 2026

Send us comments, suggestions and ideas here!

In this week’s episode we accomplish part 2 of our deep dive into the sickly yellow abyss of Kane Parson’s Backrooms to reveal the unthinkably dense amount of symbolism, mythology and religious allegory lurking just beneath the surface. In the free side of the show we discuss how Mary’s shadow can be related to The Wheel of Fortune and the Blasted Tower of the Tarot expanding on the themes already present and giving dimension to Backroom's lore outside the film. In the extended show we discuss Ivan Beck, the Red City, Odin, the Tower of Babylon, the Voyager Disk, The Qlippoth of Kabbalistic Tree of Death and even the Gnostic Demiurge because damn it, Kane Parsons go so hard with easter eggs and clever symbolism I think we may need to determine if he is actually a Moonchild created by Aleister Crowley himself. Thank you and enjoy the show!

In this week’s episode we discuss:
The Formation of the Psychological Shadow
    The Wheel of Fortune
    Palm Reading
    Mother-Daughter Complex
    The Blasted Tower
The Purpose of the Psychological Shadow
    The Tower of Babel
    The Red City
    The Glorious Sun Face
    Ivan Beck

In the extended show available at www.patreon.com/TheWholeRabbit we go further into the Backrooms than anyone else (at least I’m pretty sure) and discuss:
    A Sync and Odin
    Fault of Memory
The Qlippoth: Kabbalistic Tree of Death
    Still-Lives
    Ein Soph
    The Gnostic Demiurge: Yaldabaoth

  • Kane Parson's "The Backrooms" Decoded: The Wheel of Samsara (level 1)
    Jun 13 2026

Send us comments, suggestions and ideas here!

In this week’s episode we grab our “They Live” glasses and descend down into Kane Parson’s summer blockbuster horror hit: “The Backrooms” to explore its clever symbolic use of Jungian archetypes and Eastern mysticism to create a cerebral and spooky allegory with the same narrative depth we find in masterpieces like Kubrick’s The Shining, Lynch’s Twin Peaks or Owaku’s Silent Hill 2 but with a retrowave drip that weaponizes nostalgia in a tour of the collective unconscious with obscure doorways straight into Buddhist hell. In the free side of the show we discuss Clark and the symbolism that haunts him, the Backrooms and his shadow; breaking down what it has to do with the infinite, changing and cyclical nature of the Backrooms itself. In the extended side of the show we discuss the Capn Carl, Tarot symbolism, the shadow of the retrowave aesthetic and how the Backrooms are a perfect allegory for the Bardos of the Tibetan Book of the Dead. Join us next week for part 2. That gives you a whole other week to go watch the movie before listening! Thank you and enjoy the show!

In this week’s episode we discuss:
    Origins of the Backrooms
    Clark Character Analysis
    Water Symbolism
The Helm and the Wheel of Karma
    Samsara, Maya and Dukkha
The Biology of Memory and Repetition
    Bird symbolism
    Carl Jung’s Psychological Shadow

In the extended episode available at www.patreon.com/TheWholeRabbit we go deeper down the rabbit hole to discuss:
    Black Mirrors
    Descending Into the Unconscious
Weaponizing Nostalgia and the Retrowave Aesthetic
    Tarot: Two of Swords
    Gematria
    Davey Jones Locker
    Mary and the Window

  • DMT Laser Experiments & The Code of Reality
    Jun 6 2026

Send us comments, suggestions and ideas here!

In this week’s show we finally take a glimpse at what psychonaught Danny Goller has been trying to tell us for years; that if you smoke enough DMT and stare at a diffused laser you can see the code of reality. After talking about how Danny figured it out, we discuss why such a strange idea might not only make sense but falls in line with cutting edge research and a long tradition in the West of combining cutting edge optics and spirit communication to advance our understanding of reality. We even get into how Danny says to do the experiment… which we do not endorse, condone or promote in any way because drugs are bad and I am not responsible for any damage you do to your eyes while on them. In the extended show we discuss what spirit conjuring wizards throughout history have a strangely concordant interest in the field of optics, the bizarrely specific experiences shared by participants and what kind of strange entities are most contacted while a user is on DMT. We discuss the Back Rooms, the City of Pyramids and the occult reason why the entities that reside there might be hideous clown creatures. Thank you and enjoy the show.

On this week’s show we discuss:
    Danny Goller
    Rick Strassman’s “The Spirit Molecule”
    ECCO the Dolphin
    Dose Dependent Effects
    How to do the experiment
    Snell’s Law

In the extended show available at www.patreon.com/TheWholeRabbit we go further down the rabbit hole and discuss:
Optics and Wizardry in the West
    How do lasers work?
    Shared experiences
    DMT entities
    Lila
    City of Pyramids

This episode was written by Luke Madrid, Heka Astra and Mari Sama with additional commentary by Tim Hacker.
