The impact of the pandemic: one year on

  • Summary

  • For this first episode, which airs exactly one year on from the start of the first national lockdown, we wanted to chat with those working on the frontline in the social care sector, about the impact the last year has had on them.

Jon Brown, Director of Strategic Partnerships of Barnardo's speaks to us about hidden harm, domestic violence, and the impact of the pandemic on children's mental health; foster carer Chelsea shares the challenges and highlights of her first year as a foster parent; student social worker Becky Salter discusses the reality of lockdown placements, and the lack of firsthand experience she and her cohorts are hoping won't affect their chances on the job market, and Care Home Administrator Lindsay Hood recalls her own battle with Covid early on in the pandemic, which left her struggling with the effects of PTSD.

With a special contribution from student social worker, and poet, David Grimm, and thanks to the wonderful Edd Donavon and the Wandering Moles, for use of their fantastic track, 'The Social Worker.'
