    Feb 3 2021

When asked if Eliza Thomas – Comedian would like to be on the podcast her response was, well, delightful.

“Very excited to join Angus Lange for his podcast “Things people are passionate about”. I will be talking about one of my special interests the Sydney to Hobart Yacht race. FYI, if you ask me, an Autistic person, if I want to info-dump about a special interest of mine, my answer is yes, I don’t need to know how many subscribers are listening, my answer is YES!!

    The D.D.C (Adelaide Fringe 2021)

    https://adelaidefringe.com.au/fringetix/the-d-d-c-af2021

Is your Dad dead? Ours are. Is this a terrible premise for a comedy show? Probably. This multi-award winning line-up includes some of the best local and international acts (lucky for us, some of the best international acts got stuck here because of the ‘Rona). You don’t have to be a member of the Dead Dads Club to enjoy the show, just be aware that you are not really the target audience… yet. Also, if you were offended by that last line, you should be aware that it gets much worse, you’ve been warned. If you are a member of the D.D.C. you should know that seeing this show will not fill the void, nothing does… Did I mention it’s a comedy show? If dark humour is your thing, then this show is for you. All comedians are damaged, this line-up has some of their damage in common.

  • Episode 014 - Zjál - Ethical Artistry - Things People Are Passionate About
    Dec 14 2020
Zjál – Independent Artist. Singer, Songwriter, Producer and painter has started her own record label and signed herself.Zjálhttps://zjalofficial.com/Youtubehttps://www.youtube.com/zj%C3%A1lofficialFacebookhttps://www.facebook.com/zjalofficialInstagramhttps://www.instagram.com/zjalofficial/ ZjálThere is a myriad of fiery and beautifully complex energies broiling within the soul of R&B pop singer Zjál.There’s the desire to be sensual and purposeful. There are the competing pulls of Zjál’s traditional Lebanese culture and her cavalier femininity. And there’s the restless determination inherent in her birth sign, Capricorn. The Australian-born, London-based artist is a songstress/warrior who achieves a poetic Zen within her hip-hop tinged R&B. With her debut EP Home, she’s sure to inspire and seduce.“I have this fire inside of me. It’s a weird balance of being a rebel, but also a lover and a healer. I don’t follow rules, I follow my heart and my intuition.”Zjál’s aesthetic is exotic with an urban flair. She draws from the heritage of poetry as a medium in hip-hop, the sultry hooks of pop-filled-soul, her experiences as a citizen of the world, and her journeys in love and femininity. She’s garnered favorable comparisons to the likes of Tinashe, Sevyn Streeter, Kehlani, and Zendaya. The London-based singer grew up on a secluded farm in Adelaide, Australia with a traditional Lebanese family that held a progressive outlook. As a child, she veered between being introspective and reflective, and bubbly and extroverted. These strong shifts in dynamics would come to define her as she embraced the duality within. As a child, she created a world around her populated by Michael Jackson, her writing obsession, and Kahlil Gibran’s epiphanic essay collection The Prophet, given to her by her father.Zjál was born Yasmine Andary, and through her name change, she was finally able to harness the power of spirituality bubbling inside. “Zjál is the name of an ancient form of a Lebanese poetry slam. The name made me feel connected to my roots and represented my literature side. Taking the name helped me break away from my reserved nature—that soft-spoken girl who grew up on a small farm. It helped me go from Patience Phillips to Catwoman.”Hayati means “my life” in Arabic, which is what most couples say to each other to express just how far their love for each other reaches. The word can be found most often in Arabic songs about love and spoken in the Lebanese dialect.Shaken Not Stirred – Adelaide Cover Bandhttps://www.shakennotstirred.com.au/SAE Adelaidehttps://sae.edu.au/campuses/adelaide/InfluencesLauren Hillhttps://mslaurynhill.com/Fugeeshttps://www.thefugees.com/Erykah Baduhttps://baduworldmarket.com/Jill Scotthttps://hiddenbeach.com/artist-jill-scott/Tupac / 2Pachttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tupac_ShakurKendrick Lamarhttp://www.kendricklamar.com/Jay Colehttp://www.dreamville.com/artist/cole/Drakehttps://drakerelated.com/Alicia Keyshttps://aliciakeys.com/home/India Ariahttp://soulbird.com/Nina Simonehttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nina_SimoneEtta Jameshttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Etta_JamesEartha Kitthttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eartha_KittDream Theatrehttps://dreamtheater.net/Glenn Hughs – deep purplehttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glenn_Hughes_(musician) Hosted on Acast.
