Waiting is one of the most challenging experiences in life, especially for believers who are often eager to see God's promises come to fruition. However, the waiting seasons are often the most important times for a Christian. It is during these moments of waiting that God shapes our character, deepens our faith, and fortifies us for the tasks ahead. These times of waiting are not wasted; they are moments of preparation for what’s to come.

Let’s explore how waiting builds character and strength, with examples from scripture and commentary on how we can apply this to our lives.

    1. Isaiah 40:31 (NKJV) "But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.

    2. Psalm 27:14 (NKJV) "Wait on the Lord; be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart; wait, I say, on the Lord!"*

    3. James 1:2-4 (NKJV) “My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing."

    4. Romans 8:25 (NKJV) *"But if we hope for what we do not see, we eagerly wait for it with perseverance."

    5. Lamentations 3:25-26 (NKJV) "The Lord is good to those who wait for Him, to the soul who seeks Him. It is good that one should hope and wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord."

    6. Psalm 37:7 (NKJV) "Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for Him; do not fret because of him who prospers in his way, because of the man who brings wicked schemes to pass."

    7. Galatians 6:9 (NKJV) "And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart."

    8. Habakkuk 2:3 (NKJV) "For the vision is yet for an appointed time; but at the end it will speak, and it will not lie. Though it tarries, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry."

    9. **Proverbs 3:5-6 (NKJV) "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths."

    10. Psalm 130:5-6 (NKJV) "I wait for the Lord, my soul waits, and in His word I do hope. My soul waits for the Lord more than those who watch for the morning—yes, more than those who watch for the morning."

Waiting seasons are often the most formative periods in our lives. It’s in the waiting that God builds character, refines our faith, and strengthens our hearts. Just as a seed grows beneath the surface before breaking through the soil, God is doing a deep work in us during these times. Let us embrace the waiting, knowing that God is at work, and trust that in His perfect timing, we will see the fulfillment of His promises. Remember, strength is built in the waiting.

Today, we are going to dive into the story of Jehu, a man chosen by God to execute His judgment on the house of Ahab and cleanse Israel of its idolatry. Jehu’s story is one of zeal, decisive action, and obedience to God’s command, yet it also serves as a warning about the dangers of incomplete devotion. Let’s explore the key scriptures to gain a complete understanding of Jehu’s mission and its implications for us today.

2 Kings 9:1-3 (NKJV) *"And Elisha the prophet called one of the sons of the prophets and said to him, 'Get yourself ready, take this flask of oil in your hand, and go to Ramoth Gilead. Now when you arrive at that place, look there for Jehu the son of Jehoshaphat, the son of Nimshi, and go in and make him rise up from among his associates, and take him to an inner room. Then take the flask of oil, and pour it on his head, and say, ‘Thus says the LORD: “I have anointed you king over Israel.”’ Then open the door and flee, and do not delay.'”*

2 Kings 9:6-7 (NKJV) "Then he arose and went into the house. And he poured the oil on his head, and said to him, 'Thus says the LORD God of Israel: “I have anointed you king over the people of the LORD, over Israel. You shall strike down the house of Ahab your master, that I may avenge the blood of My servants the prophets, and the blood of all the servants of the LORD, at the hand of Jezebel."'”

2 Kings 9:16-17 (NKJV) *"So Jehu rode in a chariot and went to Jezreel, for Joram was laid up there. And Ahaziah king of Judah had come down to see Joram. Now a watchman stood on the tower in Jezreel, and he saw the company of Jehu as he came, and said, 'I see a company of men.' And Joram said, 'Get a horseman and send him to meet them, and let him say, "Is it peace?"'"*

2 Kings 9:22 (NKJV) "Now it happened, when Joram saw Jehu, that he said, 'Is it peace, Jehu?' So he answered, 'What peace, as long as the harlotries of your mother Jezebel and her witchcraft are so many?'"

2 Kings 9:24 (NKJV) "Now Jehu drew his bow with full strength and shot Jehoram between his arms; and the arrow came out at his heart, and he sank down in his chariot."

2 Kings 9:30-31 (NKJV) "Now when Jehu had come to Jezreel, Jezebel heard of it; and she put paint on her eyes and adorned her head, and looked through a window. Then, as Jehu entered at the gate, she said, 'Is it peace, Zimri, murderer of your master?'"

2 Kings 9:32-33 (NKJV) "And he looked up at the window and said, 'Who is on my side? Who?' So two or three eunuchs looked out at him. Then he said, 'Throw her down.' So they threw her down, and some of her blood spattered on the wall and on the horses; and he trampled her underfoot."

2 Kings 10:16 (NKJV) "Then he said, 'Come with me, and see my zeal for the LORD.' So they had him ride in his chariot."

2 Kings 10:28-29 (NKJV) *"Thus Jehu destroyed Baal from Israel. However, Jehu did not turn away from the sins of Jeroboam, the son of Nebat, who had made Israel sin, that is, from the golden calves that were at Bethel and Dan."

2 Kings 10:30-31 (NKJV) *"And the LORD said to Jehu, 'Because you have done well in doing what is right in My sight, and have done to the house of Ahab all that was in My heart, your sons shall sit on the throne of Israel to the fourth generation.' But Jehu took no heed to walk in the law of the LORD God of Israel with all his heart

Now is the Time for Davids to Rise Up • Friday Service

    Website: www.PastorTodd.org

The times we are living in call for a new generation of believers to rise up with the heart, courage, and faith of King David. David was a man after God’s own heart, chosen to lead Israel during a time of great uncertainty. As we look around today, the challenges are vast—spiritual warfare, cultural shifts, and the shaking of foundations. Yet, just as David stood firm in his calling, we too are called to rise up with his attributes. Here are ten key attributes of King David and why they are essential for us in this season.

David's defining characteristic was his deep, personal relationship with God. He wasn’t perfect, but he continually sought God's presence.

Scripture: "But now your kingdom shall not continue. The Lord has sought for Himself a man after His own heart, and the Lord has commanded him to be commander over His people, because you have not kept what the Lord commanded you." — 1 Samuel 13:14

Scripture: "Then David said to the Philistine, 'You come to me with a sword, with a spear, and with a javelin. But I come to you in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied.'" — 1 Samuel 17:45

Scripture: "He also chose David His servant, and took him from the sheepfolds; from following the ewes that had young He brought him, to shepherd Jacob His people, and Israel His inheritance." — Psalm 78:70-71

Scripture: "I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth." — Psalm 34:1

Scripture: "Therefore David blessed the Lord before all the assembly; and David said: 'Blessed are You, Lord God of Israel, our Father, forever and ever. Yours, O Lord, is the greatness, the power and the glory, the victory and the majesty; for all that is in heaven and in earth is Yours.'" — 1 Chronicles 29:10-11

Scripture: "Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me." — Psalm 51:10

Scripture: "I was glad when they said to me, 'Let us go into the house of the Lord.'" — Psalm 122:1

Scripture: "Wait on the Lord; be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart; wait, I say, on the Lord!" — Psalm 27:14

Scripture: "Hear my cry, O God; attend to my prayer. From the end of the earth I will cry to You, when my heart is overwhelmed; lead me to the rock that is higher than I." — Psalm 61:1-2

Scripture: "So David inquired of the Lord, saying, 'Shall I go up against the Philistines? Will You deliver them into my hand?' And the Lord said to David, 'Go up, for I will doubtless deliver the Philistines into your hand.'" — 2 Samuel 5:19

Just as God raised up David in a critical moment in history, He is raising up modern-day Davids now—those with hearts after His own, who are fearless, humble, repentant, and ready for battle. Let us embrace these attributes and rise to the occasion, knowing that the battle belongs to the Lord!
