    Unraveling the Mysteries of Life The New World of Genomic Medicine With Eric Green, MD, PhD Director, National Human Genome Research Institute, NIH Recorded at The Torah Center ATL on Wednesday, January 15, 2025 Just over two decades ago, researchers completed a historic effort to read out the approximately 3 billion “letters” of DNA that make up the human genome. Progress since then has been breathtaking and spectacular, including the emergence of real-world examples involving the use of a patient’s genomic information to improve their clinical care—something known as genomic medicine. Dr. Eric Green is Director of the National Human Genome Research Institute at the U.S. National Institutes of Health and one of the scientists who led the effort to map and sequence the human genome during the Human Genome Project. In this talk Dr. Green describes the story of human genomics and how genomics is becoming mainstream in medicine—including some important applications for the Jewish community.
