  • Gerard John Schaefer ended up on the police’s radar for the first time in 1972 - or at least for the first time as a suspect. Schaefer was a sheriff’s deputy in Martin County, Florida when he admitted to his superior that he had messed up… by tying two women to trees and torturing them, before they escaped. He was fired and charged with aggravated assault, but would spend the next 6 months living in the community, while awaiting his trial. What you’ll find here is that this is likely not where the story begins or ends.
