  • 67: The Work in Action: Must-See Coaching Session
    Jul 19 2024
On this week’s very special episode of the “Try Life On” Podcast, Maurice has the opportunity to share (with permission) a recording of a one-on-one coaching session with his client Subash… and it may just be the most important episode he has put out to date. Subash had been putting Maurice’s coaching directly into practice; he recently took a 4 day trip to Dubai with the goal of leaving behind his presently unfulfilling work and life dynamic in Kuwait. What he found there were connections that led him to seeing a potentially fulfilling life– one that he would not need to take a vacation from– investing in tourism in Oman alongside a local. It’s a conversation in which so many of the Try Life On core principles are put directly on display, and as the two men dig deeper, we have the chance to watch Subash realize over the course of the session… There is so much waiting for me when I choose to look beyond the Status Quo. It is possible for Subash, and it is possible for you as well. It’s a great example of seeing how your intuition may pull you in one direction, while expectations from the status quo will continue to pull you away. But it just shows all the more that you have to be willing to take the plunge… and Try Life On.

  • 65: Conversations at The Imperfect Cafe: Rethinking Success with Darryl Stickel
    Jul 5 2024

This week Maurice stopped by the 'Imperfect Cafe' to have a conversation with his friends Darryl Stickel and Eric Lott. The three talk a lot about trying life on, defining what success looks like, and the broken social contract - our status quo way of going to school, getting the degree, getting into a career for decades and all will be okay mentality. We all know this is broken as many get into debt, find themselves 20 years into careers they never wanted, and miss many life opportunities.

This is where lifestyle design comes in, especially attacking areas such as financial, time, location and purpose freedoms as a cornerstone to professional life.

Darryl and Eric were new to the idea of designing your own life and through speaking with Maurice, learned to really lean into the power this mindset holds and the potential for freedom to reach our goals in a new way. We have more power over our lives than we think. After talking with Maurice and understanding the Try Life On methodology, Darryl and Eric left with a whole new perspective. And you will too.

Darryl Stickel is a true thought leader in the area of trust. He sets a great example and offers valuable insights and guidance on leadership and transformation that are both practical and impactful. Recognized as one of the world’s leading thinkers on trust by Trust Across America and Trust Around the World, and having spoken at renowned institutions such as Harvard, NYU, Notre Dame, and UC Irvine, Darryl’s methodology on the ability to build trust is what separates leaders who are exceptional from those who are merely acceptable. Darryl’s “Lead with Imperfections” call to action helps leaders and business owners create a foundational shift in their workplace culture, resulting in deeper relationships, higher employee buy-in, and a transformation in performance and revenue that propels them to the next level of success.

  • 61: Mastering Your Mental Diet: Controlling Your Environment and Mindset
    Jun 7 2024

Welcome to another episode of Try Life On! Today, Maurice shares highlights from a powerful coaching call, diving deep into mental diets and controlling your environment. Maurice loves coaching others, but it's nuggets of wisdom he receives from coaching students that inspire and reinvigorate his Try Life On mindset.

So, what is a mental diet? It's about allowing your mind to focus on what truly interests you, rather than consuming everything around you. We are constantly consuming negative information having no bearing on what we actually care for in life. In actuality, our external world is a reflection of our internal thoughts. If we let in information we don’t want, our world will reflect that. So your goal is to restrict non-impactful information you are receiving in order to Try Life On more.

Maurice reflects on 5 books he read over and over during a 20 year period. Those books on real estate, investing, lifestyle design, and finding man’s purpose drove his current life. He restricted himself to that information to make sure his world came to be.

He also reflects on being a black man living in Lebanon. Being in his coastal environment means he’s not subjected to typical US based negative media, political conversation, and other information not beneficial to his journey and that of his family, all by controlling his environment. In doing so he controls the information that reaches his brain, filtering out negative thoughts and facts that could weigh him down.

Sit back, Try Life On Tribe, and enjoy this special episode!
