Let's join Dr. Mitchell now as he continues his overview of the book of John chapter 1 to take a look at Jesus our Savior, the Word Who in the Beginning, Was.

James says the tongue cannot be tamed or domesticated, unlike animals. In James chapter 3 verses 9-14 we are exhorted to be consistent with our speech. The tongue is to be controlled by the Holy Spirit. Jesus needs to be the Lord of our heart, lips and tongue.

Dr. Mitchell, here on the Unchanging Word Bible Broadcast, examines the use of the tongue in our lives, with God's wisdom, especially when communicating the Word of God to others.

The Unchanging Word Bible Broadcast is in James Chapter 3 verses 1-8. Dr. Mitchell looks at the practicality of the book of James. He calls for reality in the life of the believer in Christ. And in this passage, it is demonstrated by the use of the tongue.

James warns us that not many should be teachers. The fact is, teachers can be criticized by others where the tongue is involved. The tongue has power for edification or for destruction. When the power of the tongue is controlled, it demonstrates the self control a person has over the whole body.
