• Ep. 35: Leaving the city...for Good
    Dec 7 2020

Vahishta Mistry was a senior media and startup executive and Neha Sumitran was the web editor of National Geographic Traveller India Magazine. Almost two years ago they moved out of Mumbai in their search for a more sustainable, rural life. Having picked up a few skills while working at farms across the country, they finally settled in a village near Kodaikanal to set up their own home.

The couple shares their experience of what it was like to go from being urban city slickers to rural residents, what was their motivation behind the move, how they planned it, and how it has changed their lives. Click through to check out the episode.

  • Ep. 33: Blame it on Nehru
    Nov 23 2020

On this episode of "Uncle, Please Sit!", Joel and Tushar are joined by Dr Aparna Pande, the author of "Making India Great - The Promise Of A Reluctant Global Power" and Director of the Initiative on the Future of India and South Asia at the Hudson Institute. The topic of discussion this week revolves around the first Prime Minister of India, Jawaharlal Nehru. A global statesman, an astute politician, and one of the founding fathers of India - Nehru has always been a larger-than-life figure in the country and often the topic of a heated debate. There has always been an interest in analyzing his time in office, but over the last few years, there seems to be a concerted effort to blame him for many of the ills that India faces, even today. Is there any truth to these allegations? Is he just an easy scapegoat? Or is Nehru being attacked to undermine secular values that many hold dear? The panel explores these questions along with much more. Click through to check out the episode!
