What is it that keeps your mind on Christ? How often do you go back to the moments that drew you near to God? If you have been part of a youth group or student ministry, one of these moments would be summer camp. Sure camp is fun, and full of friends and great memories, but what about those moments God used at camp to draw you back to what is holy, genuine, pure, real, life-changing? Something similar happens in Jewish tradition. At the Feast of Trumpets, a shofar is blown every seven minutes to call people back to God. It was an interruption of what they were doing to call them to turn their lives to God. Today, we visit the series on Shadows of Christ. In this series we are looking at the Jewish feasts on or near the time they are observed. What we find within each feast/festival is a fulfillment in Christ.

Today, we are finishing a three part series on God and government, called “In God We Trust.” Have you ever thought about how every person has a distinct set of values? Tommy Nelson has said, “…values will determine your goals and ambitions. Your goals and ambitions determine your priorities…your priorities will determine your decisions, and your decisions will determine your destiny.” Each of us value something, and that drives our purpose and message. In the political world, this is really messy because nobody seems to show any worth or respect to values. What the government values is definitely more shallow than what Christ values. What does this look like for people who don’t believe in Jesus and those who do?

What does the model citizen look like in our day and age? We all would have some opinions about how a citizen of the United States should look like. Many of us would hope that they would agree to and live by our local, state and government laws. That would mean, a person would need to submit. Do you have a hard time submitting to authority? Do you struggle to respect leaders who have been placed to maintain and build on our country’s success? Today, Senior pastor, Heath Bauer, is in the series called “In God We Trust.” We are going to see how God’s Word encourages us to handle our spot with government.
