In tech news today…  Following the European Commission banning TikTok from their staff’s phones; Canada has followed suit and banned TikTok from all government devices.   Twitter has reportedly laid off at least 200 staff in another round of cuts. It’s said that the tech giant has cut a further 10% of it’s workforce so far or around 2000 people.  This follows the sacking of 50% of it’s workforce after Elon Musk took over in October.   In more positive news, the National Ignition Facility has reported that they have performed the first Fusion reaction that has released more energy than was used by the laser to trigger it. This is an immense breakthrough in paving the way to clean renewable energy.   Finally, Netflix has cut their subscription prices in more than 30 countries in an effort to attract new subscribers to the platform.

    In a new study by the University of Utah it is reported that smartwatches and wearable fitness devices could allegedly trigger a heart attack in vulnerable patients due to the sensor technology


    Signal, a zero trust messaging alternative, is threatening to stop providing their services in the UK if the law surrounding encryption changes.
