Money can buy some happiness but what if you’re not happy within yourself? Jeff encourages all of us to embrace self-love, connection and community, open our eyes to miracles, nourish our well-being, and move away from shame, limiting self-beliefs and our trained sense of “lack” and materialism. Is the glass half-empty or half-full? Maybe it is even 98% full, but in our culture we were trained to just see the orientation leaning toward the edge that makes us look for the things we still don’t have. Reclaiming the Sacred draws on the work of thousands of scientists, spiritual leaders, poets, and activists to explore what we know about what most nourishes human well-being—and what does not, most notably money and possessions. It examines the dire consequences of the vast materialism throughout the world today—the ways it impoverishes us individually and sows violence and destruction globally. The book then goes beyond all of that, taking readers on a journey, both mystical and scientific, of reclaiming the sacredness of ourselves and this gorgeous world.
