  • Sundial Bridge Celebrates 20 years- Shannon Philips -Chief Operating Officer McConnell Foundation

    The Sundial Bridge celebrates 20 years since its completition in the Redding Cultural District. Shannon Philips, Chief Operating Officer of the McConnell Foundation, joins the Downtown Discussion to discuss the 20 year milestone celebration. The festivities will bring Bandaloop Wire Dancers, artists, recreational activities and culinary experiences together from June 28 through July 4. Check out the list of activities Here

    The Sundial Bridge at Turtle Bay, designed by international architect Santiago Calatava, crosses the Sacramento River in the heart of Redding, California. Opened July 4, 2004, the bridge links the north and south campuses of Turtle Bay Exploration Park and serves as a new downtown entrance for Redding’s extensive Sacramento River Trail system. Access to the Sundial Bridge and surrounding river trails are free to the public.

    Sara Sundquist and Anna Blasco from Healthy Shasta, join Viva Downtown on the Downtown Discussion podcast to discuss Bike Month and Downtown Community Walking maps.

    Healthy Shasta has partnered with Viva Downtown, the City of Redding, Visit Redding, the Redding Cultural District, Shasta Historical Society, and local artist Tyler Brown Cifu Shuster to design four community walking maps in Downtown.

    The four maps feature: A mural walk, historic structure walk, Calaboose Creek walk, and trails that connect to Downtown. This program is made possible by the California Upstate Creative Corp grant. Check out the maps here: https://www.vivadowntownredding.org/maps/historical

Learn about the Adam's process for developing Area 151, through renovations of a former office space, to how VR is transforming the way people experience immersion gaming and team building. Yount is a lifelong resident of Redding and has been proud to see the momentum and development of Downtown Redding.

    Area 151 develops their games internally and creates team based games fun for the whole family, friends and business groups.
