  • Black and Middle Class| Diversity Within Our Culture
    Sep 12 2022

The Black experience goes beyond impoverished people. In this episode, Niya shares what it's like growing up middle class and some of her experiences being outcasted. Have you ever felt like you were being silently outcasted? Being silently outcasted is when a group of people invites you in with no intentions of embracing you for who you are and withdraw their love and support abruptly. Niya shares how to navigate being silently outcast through her experience in different schools with different dominant cultures.

We also discussed Niya’s experience as a hybrid student in high school taking college courses. Niya will graduate with a general associate’s degree and shares how she copes with balancing things from education, social life, and mental health. This conversation is filled with reflective thoughts and inspiration to embrace authenticity regardless of socioeconomic circumstances.
