  • I was engaged to a guy who broke my heart and basically ruined my life. We were together for three years, got engaged, and married at ages 25 and 26. Then his career took off. He started his own business as a side hustle and it hit - big time. He sold it for $8 million. He had $8 million when he was 30. And he wasn't able to handle it. He partied, and bought cars, and even a boat. He basically became a jerk. It wasn't long before I learned he was cheating and I divorced him. He said that was fine and that he had outgrown me anyway and it was my loss, not his. A real great guy, right? That was all 8 years ago. I have never dated anyone seriously since. Well, last week, he called. He has pancreatic cancer and only has a few days or weeks to live. He apologized and said he regrets how he treated me. He asked if I would re-marry him as his dying wish. He doesn't want to die alone and doesn't have anyone else. In return, I would inherit everything. It would be over $4 million. Part of me thinks I deserve it. And another part of me says he deserves the same treatment he gave me and to kick him to the curb. But is that worth walking away from the money? Then I think I hate myself if I'm only doing it for the money. What should I do? And by the way, I confirmed and verified that he does in fact have cancer and is, in fact, dying.
