  • 50: CROSSOVER EPISODE : Slap Shot
    May 30 2024
    Hey puckheads!

It's crossover time! The crew from @icbymmwt are here with me to watch thee quintessential hockey movie of all time, Slap Shot!
Starring Paul Newman, this movie sets the template for future sports movies to come. Reggie Dunlop, played by Newman, is a Player/Coach for the struggling Charlestown Chiefs. The Chiefs are about to go kapot because the local coalmine is closing which means no more butts in the seats. And The Chiefs must win the season in order to be sold to a new owner. Will they succeed? A group of rag tag players, notebly the Hanson Brothers line, bring the grit to help the Chiefs go on a winning streak. Do they go a bit overboard with the violence? Of course! It's a zany comedy from the 70's that hasn't aged well but surprisingly passes the Bechdel Test. Hell, just putting it out there though, Paul Newman can buy me a drink any night of the week.

What say you Puckheads? Where does Slap Shot rank on your all time favorite hockey movies?

Thanks Amy and Kiah! As usual, I had a blast ❤️ 🏒✌️

  • 45: Minisode: Minnesota Wild
    Mar 30 2024
    Do you believe in MIRACLES?!
Is what you would say if the Minnesota Wild won 11 in row to slide ass backwards into the playoffs... But alas, the reality is that Vegas won't lose 10 in a row to make that happen. So Sköl Mpls, here's to next year...

But heads up! My guest @lovedatdass and I touch on the season as a whole. We talk Faber for Calder, Fleury hitting 1,000 games, and some of the team changes over the past year.

Jess, as always, it was a delight to chat! Hopefully it's an eventful summer for the Wild but in the meantime, Go Twins!

Thanks for listening and tune in next time!

And oh yeah, Dumba is now in Tampa and the Hurricanes got swept in the ECF's, not the 2nd round, my bad. I'm always talking out of my butt...speaking of butts, email Whyshouldyourteamwin@gmail.com if you wanna talk puck!

    Mar 16 2024

    Howdy Puckheads!

How y'all doing? I took a break fir a bit but now I'm back with my #1 VGK fan, Amy O. We talk about the Stanley Cup summer, their somewhat medicore season, Mark Stone on LTIR wink wink, and of course Tomas Hertl jumping the shark. (zing!)
With the playoffs just around the corner and with the Golden Knights clinging to a wild card spot, Amy doesn't give a flying puck where they end up in the division. Just as long as they get to the playoffs, she'll be satisfied. Amy, once again, thanks for taking the time to shoot the shit. Cheers!

This is for you Sharks fans since I sorta rag on you guys

  • 43: Minisode: Philadelphia Flyers
    Jan 15 2024
    Greetings my little Puck Darlings!

I'm excited to talk about one of the more surprising teams of this season, the Philadelphia Flyers with @10SecondHockey

We get right into it and talk about the drama around the sudden trade of top prospect Cutter Gauthier. In return they receive d-man Jamie Drysdale from Anaheim. Derrick clarifies the Nolan Patrick retirement rumor and we also talk about Goalie Samuel Ersson, who just shutout the top dog Winnipeg Jets.

Hopefully the Flyers can keep their newfound success and eventually grace us with their presence in the playoffs. I Don't wanna jinx it, there's still a lot of hockey left,  but teams in the Metro Division will definitely be clawing their way in left and right.

We also just shoot the breeze about other NHL storylines and we sprinkle in a dash of Blue Jackets in there as well.

As always Derrick, thanks for the hawkey tawk!

And thank YOU for listening and tune in next time!
