Agnes Tirop (1995-2021) was a long distance runner from Kenya. She won the bronze medal twice at the World Championships, was a world class cross country champion, and competed in the Olympics all before the age of 26. She was murdered by her husband.

Earlene Brown (1935-1983) was the first American woman to win an Olympic medal for shot put. She qualified for the Olympics as an independent athlete and was beloved by American and international competitors alike. Later in life, she became a Roller Derby player.
