Hello everyone, a special type of episode today! Bantam and Rei were given advanced copies of the second book in the Scales of Fate series, by Shaiden Barnes, so that we could give a review on the book intime for its launch, so biiig thanks to the author for this experience, it was great fun and honestly makes us feel like we're growing as creators.

As such, since there is pretty much no way you could have read it yet, we are also trying an experiment with uploading, where right now we only upload the first half, the non-spoiler review, and will be uploading the second half next week. Let us know if this works better (maybe you have a hard time getting the willpower to pause the episode halfway through) or if you absolutely hated it (maybe you don't read the books at all and just like listening to us), feedback is important :3

Hello dragon fans, and welcome back to another episode of World of Dragons! Admittedly, it has been quite a while since our last upload, but part of that is due to Rei wanting to read multiple books at once for a review. This episode we're reviewing the Dragon Sorcerer series, by Sean Oswald. The first book of the series is Claws Out, and was the book we had Bantam read to give his impressions, Rei decided to read ahead so he could let you dragon fans know if this was going to be another betrayal, like the Dragon Friend series was (minor rant included in the episode).

Join us as we discuss the first dragon shifter book that Rei has enjoyed, and actually considers to be a good book with the shifting being useful and not a cheap way to hide the dragon. Rei has a lot of good things to say about the series, and we even have a few tangents included for different tropes, what fun!

If you stick around after the ending music, Rei will comment on a few plot points that happen in later books, so big fat SPOILER warning for that, but he will do so with the intent of letting you listeners who are on the fence or nervous about the course of the book know if its going to go into territory that would disappoint you. For example, if the book 4 the dragon was going to give up his dragonhood and be human forever (he doesn't) that's the kind of thing he would spoil so you don't get blindsided and betrayed.

Hey Dragon Fans, we're back with book 4 of All the Skills, by Honour Rae, continuing the surprise dragonrider hit with Arthur and Brixaby. This will be the last book in the series we cover for now, at least until the full series is published, then we may return for a retrospective. So come join us talk about our favorite characters, what we did and did not like about the evolution of the world and story, and our hopes and fears for the future of the series.

We may have an interview with the author, so stay tuned for more information regarding that!

I had several episodes that were in my editing backlog that I'm going to upload now, and once they're all up (limited on hours-per-month to upload) we'll have a discussion/announcment about the future of the show. For now, just understand that editing was draining on me and so I'm going to do much less of that now, so forgive the random background noises or 3 second silences I used to take out.

The last of the backlog, this episode was requested by a member of our discord, and the Author himself. Smash the World's Shell is a forbidden friendship story, where a human and a dragon meet and become friends, despite the fact that their respective species are enemies, so much as both sides believing that the other are monsters, incapable of speech. Their personal stories also revolve around expectations, and even gender norms.

By the author's request, we have a content warning:

"This is a healing story, but the journey towards catharsis winds through dark, thorny territory. Potentially triggering content includes: verbal and physical abuse, suicide, suicidal ideation, loss of a parent at a young age, and self-harm."

This episode features another Film, new (at time up recording) on Netflix, called Damsel. It follows a maiden who is to be ritualistically sacrificed to a dragon, as part of a payment the dragon demands in retribution for what some old and long dead king did.

Unfortunately the film does feature the dragon as the villain, but with good CG and decent writing, the story goes in an acceptable (as deemed by Rei) place.

We continue the All the Skills series with the latest installment (at the time of recording, as of uploading book 4 is now released), that follows Arthur with his new dragon companion, Brixaby (who we love) as they attempt to grow into their role, but honestly end up forced into a side quest.

Luckily, the side quest is enjoyable and answers quite a few questions our hosts had at the last recording.
