Young and the Restless sees the Newman family is again under threat from the vindictive Ian Ward (Ray Wise). Ian's history with the Newmans, particularly Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott), dates back to the 1980's, though he did not make his on-screen debut until 2013. His nefarious history is marked by cult leadership, attempted blackmail, and targeting the Newman family on the CBS soap opera.

Y&R showrunner Josh Griffith has confirmed that Mariah Copeland (Camryn Grimes), who bears a striking resemblance to the late Cassie Newman, is now in Ian's crosshairs. Ian's twisted past, intertwined with characters such as Paul Williams (Doug Davidson), Victor Newman (Eric Braeden), and Sharon Newman (Sharon Case), continues to unravel.
