Why Parables?

Jesus spoke in parables to the crowds the began to follow him as the miracles grew and the message pierced the hearts of many. These parables spoke to the Church. They spoke to those who were hoping to follow. They spoke to the ones who had been left out. Those who were looking to harm him didn’t want to understand, so they did not. But the more we listen to Jesus the more we find that he wants to point to the disenfranchised as the ones who are doing what is right. Atonement is one of those Christiany Christian words that can confuse as much as it clears up. The meaning of atonement from a religious perspective can be divider as well. Christian Perfection?

Are Christians perfect? Wow, saying they are would be a quick way to start an argument. A theologian named Charles Wesley used the term ‘Christian Perfection’ many years ago and in his day the blow back was incredible.
