Story
Yamamoto Tsunetomo was a samurai for thirty years, following his father, and grandfather. Tsunetomo did not commit ritual suicide on his master's death (as was the practice) because his master forbid it. Later, Tsunetomo recounted his thoughts and stories to Tashiro Tsuramoto who compiled and published this work in 1716. "Hagakure" (literally "hidden leaves" or "in the shadow of leaves") is also known as "The Way of the Samurai". Aphorisms from the book were popularized in the 1999 Jim Jaramusch film "Ghost Dog" starring Forest Whitaker.

Story
Welcome my fellow unclothed friends. Now, I know what you’re thinking—naked fighting? Really? Yes, really! Trust me, it's not just about getting into hilarious, awkward situations (although there’s plenty of that). It’s about embracing your natural self and learning some valuable self-defense skills while you’re at it. First, let me give you a bit of background on why I’m so passionate about this. I’ve been a proud nudist for years. There’s something incredibly freeing about shedding your clothes and just being yourself, unencumbered by society’s constraints. But, just ...

Story
The most important self-defense skill is how to avoid a fight in the first place. Even the toughest person alive has a non-zero chance of dying in a fight. Even the weakest person alive has a 100% of surviving a fight they don't get into. Avoiding dangerous situations is a set of skills all of their own, and a set many self-defense books never get around to teaching. One problem with martial arts books and other media is we spend so much time on what to do if somebody throws a punch, but precious little on how to keep that punch from getting thrown in the first place. This is an attempt to ...

Story
Pro wrestling is performance art, and trying to occlude that fact for decades has in many ways prevented the evolution of the art form. Little has been written about the challenges modern pro wrestlers face and the ways in which they engage with audiences. 7 Keys to Becoming a Better Performer - A Book for Fellow Pro-Wrestlers offers a fresh, frank examination of the skill set every professional wrestler needs to hone, regardless of where they ply their trade.

Story
Just in time for the 2020 Presidential Election season is a fresh look at Donald Trump and his connection to the WWE and the McMahon family. The bluster and bravado that Trump witnessed at several WrestleManias, whether from a front row seat or inside the ring, surely lent a hand to his memorable electoral debate oratories. TrumpMania is the story, on screen and off, of the mutually beneficial business and personal relationship between Donald Trump, Vince & Linda McMahon and the WWF/WWE. No matter what side of the political aisle you sit on, it would be hard to deny that Vince McMahon had ...

In the early 1980s, Ray Mancini was more than the lightweight champ. He was a national hero. Sinatra fawned over him. Warren Zevon wrote a tribute song. Sylvester Stallone produced his life story as a movie of the week. After all, an adoring public considered Boom Boom the real Rocky. But it all came apart in a brutal 1982 battle against an obscure Korean challenger....

Hillbilly Elegy is a passionate and personal analysis of a culture in crisis - that of white working-class Americans. The decline of this group, a demographic of our country that has been slowly disintegrating over 40 years, has been reported on with growing frequency and alarm but has never before been written about as searingly from the inside. J. D. Vance tells the true story of what a social, regional, and class decline feels like when you were born with it hung around your neck.

Story
Hillbilly Elegy is a passionate and personal analysis of a culture in crisis - that of white working-class Americans. The decline of this group, a demographic of our country that has been slowly disintegrating over 40 years, has been reported on with growing frequency and alarm but has never before been written about as searingly from the inside. J. D. Vance tells the true story of what a social, regional, and class decline feels like when you were born with it hung around your neck.

Deborah Harkness first introduced the world to Diana Bishop, an Oxford scholar and witch, and vampire geneticist Matthew de Clermont in A Discovery of Witches. Drawn to each other despite long-standing taboos, these two otherworldly beings found themselves at the center of a battle for a lost, enchanted manuscript known as Ashmole 782. Since then, they have fallen in love, traveled to Elizabethan England, dissolved the Covenant between the three species, and awoken the dark powers within Diana’s family line.

“You like it darker? Fine, so do I,” writes Stephen King in the afterword to this magnificent new collection of twelve stories that delve into the darker part of life—both metaphorical and literal. King has, for half a century, been a master of the form, and these stories, about fate, mortality, luck, and the folds in reality where anything can happen, are as rich and riveting as his novels, both weighty in theme and a huge pleasure to digest.
